WTF/WTH Wednesdays – Ben Roethlisberger
WTF is wrong with Big Ben??
How are you going to be caught up in 2 separate cases of possible sexual assault? C’mon son that’s just nutttzzzz!!!!
Seriously Big Ben whats the deal? You’re a young successful QB in the NFL, you have led your team to 2 Super Bowl titles. Are you that hard up for chicks?
To be fair this is an older pic of Big Ben intoxicated and enjoying the ladies, but at the same time with all the allegations surrounding Ben it’s looking more and more like this is not too far from the Ben Roethlisberger that is currently being investigate for an alledged sexual assault of a 20-year-old on March 5th; Big Ben is currently denying anything happened. This is the 2nd time in 8 months that Big Ben has been implicated in some kind of sexual assault scandal. The first alledged incident occurred on July 17th 2009 at a Lake Tahoe resort; to be honest that case is on very shaky ground as the girl never filed criminal charges. She only filed a civil suit which makes it look more like an attempt to get some money from Ben. As I am a firm believer in the U.S. court system, Ben is of course innocent until proven guilty.
So far Ben has denied both allegations, BUT the problem is that he didn’t learn anything from the incident at Lake Tahoe. I understand that athletes are targets due to their fame and money but you have to be smarter than that. You can’t get caught up twice in less than a year, that shit right there makes no sense. In all honesty that’s up their with some PacMan type of recklessness, not trying to take a dig at PacMan (he has stayed out of trouble as of late) but his record speaks for itself.
So with all this alledged trouble Ben is in and this being his 2nd incident within a year; what will the NFL do?
Now before I proceed I would like to say I don’t necessarily see anything wrong with Ben being at that bar. Some will say your only looking for trouble when you’re a star athlete and your going out to bars. WHATEVER, you can be a star athlete and still have a good time at a bar. Ben is not married and he is still young, hell I am an older than Big Ben and as some of you know; Broadway likes to get it in from time to time. I will acknowledge there is a big difference between Ben and myself; NFL star vs regular Joe.
With that out-of-the-way, I realize Ben is only being investigated for these crimes and no formal charges have been filed, but Ben has still put himself and the NFL image in a bad situation. I have to say that the NFL silence on this matter is deafening at this point! The NFL Commissioner adopted a NFL Personal Conduct Policy back in April 2007. This policy was put in place to clean up the image of the NFL after several off the field incidents involving its players. Goodell wanted to send a message to not only players but also fans and corporate sponsors; that the NFL would not tolerate behavior that will tarnish the image of the league.
Last time I checked being accused of sexual assault was not looked upon favorably. Maybe Tiger Woods affairs raised the bar for indecency, lol.
The NFL has to take action, if it was Brandon Marshall I believe there would be some kind of suspension. I am not expecting the league to take immediate action but something better happen. In my opinion the NFL is setting a bad precedent when it comes to certain players. There is nothing stopping Roger Goodell, well except that this time around the bad behavior is coming from one of the leagues “Good Guys”.
Fair is Fair Roger!!!!!!
Breaking News: Just read on Black Sports Online that Ben Roethlisberger just admitted to police Milledgeville Police Dept. that he did indeed had some kind of sexual contact with his accuser. He is still denying that he forced himself on the girl, THE PLOT THICKENS…..
As always….
If there is something to be said, “Its On Broadway” to step up and say it!!!
