Is this man crazy or has he gone rogue?
Recently RNC (Republican National Committee) Chairman Michael Steele made comments not normally made by Republicans concerning war; his comments about the War in Afghanistan have once again put him in the spotlight:
“Keep in mind again, federal candidates, this was a war of Obama’s choosing. This is not something the United States had actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in…”
“If he’s such a student of history, has he not understood that you know that’s the one thing you don’t do, is engage in a land war in Afghanistan? All right, because everyone who has tried, over a thousand years of history, has failed. And there are reasons for that.”
Immediately Democrats quickly pointed out that Steele was incorrect in stating, “This is not something the United States had actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in…” Mr. Steele seems to forget that the War in Afghanistan was started by President Bush with the backing of Congress. I will agree with Democrats that Steele wrongly stated that the war was not wanted by the American people before President Obama took office, but I will say that once President Obama made the decision to send more troops to Afghanistan it became his war. He can no longer use former President Bush as an excuse as to why we are in Afghanistan. As for his comments about the history of the region, there is something to be said about what history has proven. Afghanistan is a stubborn territory that has seen it’s fair share of battles.
Then Republicans (except Ron Paul) quickly ran away from Steele as they know they fully supported the troop increase in Afghanistan. No way could they stand by anyone who doesn’t support war. So how can the RNC Chairman go against his party? The same party that loves to preach finishing the job and that Americans don’t cut and run. Simple, he must be crazy! That’s the easy explanation, just write it off as another moment where Steele spoke without thinking. Here is a crazy thought…
I think Steele has a point.
The War in Afghanistan amongst many Americans is unpopular; with exploding debt people look at the Afghanistan War as a waste of money. According to some experts there are less than 100 Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, compared to the number of American troops in Afghanistan it just doesn’t seem like we are getting our moneys worth. This is the point Steele was trying to get to across; we continue to throw money at Afghanistan with no tangible results. How much longer can we continue to do this?
So I will give Michael Steele credit for speaking his mind, but as soon as I give him props he manages to find a way to clown himself. Steele quickly released a statement basically back-tracking from his original statement. He felt the pressure from the Republicans and he fell back in line with the rest of the pack.
So is Michael Steele crazy or his going rogue??
No, he is just a punk ass bitch!!
This is the same guy that touted himself as being from the streets of D.C., WTF! Time and time again Steele has backed down; earlier this year he challenged Rush Limbaugh’s authority during an interview when he announced that he was the leader of the Republican Party. Like now Steele backed off those comments as Rush and his ditto-heads went after him. At this point Steele has tripped over his own feet so much he might as well go out in a blaze of glory and be his own man. It’s not like he will be back as head of the RNC, HAHA!!
Here is Jon Stewart clowning Michael Steele:
As always….
If there is something to be said, “Its On Broadway” to step up and say it!!!
