While voicing his opposition to the Pigford v. Glickman; Rep. Steve King referred to Barack Obama as a “very, very urban Senator, Barack Obama…”
Ummmmm…. WTF!!!!
1st let’s take a quick step back and understand what is Pigford v. Glickman:
Pigford v. Glickman was a lawsuit against the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), alleging racial discrimination in its allocation of farm loans and assistance between 1983 and 1997. A settlement was agreed upon with the U.S. government agreeing to pay Black farmers $50,000 each if they had attempted to get USDA help but failed. Approximately $1 billion will be paid out farmers under the settlement; currently this is being held up in Congress as the House approves the appropriations for payment.
Now let’s get back to Rep Steve King, this kat is trying to make the case that Pigford v. Glickman is basically a cover for Blacks to receive “Slavery Reparations” from the U.S. government. So in making his case King while speaking on the floor of the House of Representatives stated the following:
“Figure this out, Madame Speaker: We have a very, very urban Senator, Barack Obama, who has decided he’s going to run for president, and what does he do? He introduces legislation to create a whole new Pigford claim.”
Seriously folks, WTF is “very, very urban…”? King needs to stop beating around the bush and just say what he REALLY wants to say; “Very Urban” is his own new talk for BLACK!!
What is going on? How are we allowing kats like King get away with slick talk like this? It seems like more and more people in the spotlight are getting away with this crap. Just this year we had a Gubernatorial candidate in Carl Paladino get away with sending racist emails/photos about President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama. What happened to the days when a person would be embarrassed by being caught with something like that? Instead Paladino was stubborn as ever and continued his silly campaign (he eventually lost).
Folks we better be careful, even though we have a Black President not a lot has changed. If we are not careful all the progress we have made will be undone in a blink of an eye.
As always….
If there is something to be said, “It’s On Broadway” to step up and say it!!!
