WTF/WTH Wednesdays – Tracy Morgan in trouble again…

It has only been a couple of weeks and Tracy Morgan is in trouble AGAIN, this time for cracking jokes about the mentally ill kids or as Tracy put it “retarded kids”. Recently Tracy was heavily criticized for a performance in Nashville, TN where he went on a rant against gays; during this rant Morgan said,

“I’ll Kill My Son If He Acts Gay…”

With all the backlash Morgan received he apologized for his anti-gay comments; lesson learned for Tracy. If there is one group you don’t mess with is the gay community, the LGBT are as well-organized as any rights group in the country. At 1st Chris Rock defended Morgan and his act, but when the LGBT stepped in Rock immediately back tracked his support. With no support there was nothing Morgan could do but apologize.

So now we have Tracy Morgan performing in NYC doing what he do; crack jokes!

Fresh off the anti-gay controversy Morgan is now being criticized for his jokes against mentally ill kids. Morgan referred to an old joke that has been used by many comedians in the past; Tracy talked about the notion of ‘Retarded Strength’

Don’t “mess with women who have retarded kids.”

“Them young retarded males is strong,”

In no way am I condoning Tracy Morgan jokes BUT….

If advocacy groups are going to point out comedians cracking politically incorrect jokes they better call EVERY comedian out. Right now Tracy Morgan is an easy target fresh off his anti-gay rant, but where we’re advocacy groups when Tosh O. also did a bit about ‘Retarded Strength’?

Is there any difference between Tosh O. act and what Morgan is being criticized for?

If you’re gonna call out 1 person call out everyone else; I understand the need to be sensitive but be fair about when it comes to criticizing people. Tracy Morgan can be an asshole at times but he does not deserve to be singled out for his comedy!

F-A-Natic Fridays – Jim Riggleman, Another Punk Ass Manager

So we have another MLB manager quitting on his team in mid-season; WTH is going on!  What happened to managers showing their players that giving up is not the thing to do, no matter what.

1st there was Edwin Rodriguez who quit on the Florida Marlins after suffering thru a 1-18 June and now we have Jim Riggleman quitting on the Washington Nationals while the team is playing some of the best baseball they have EVER played.

I can’t condone quitting of any type but in the case of Rodriguez you can probably argue the team was no longer responding him and it was time to move on (still he should have let the team fire him instead of quitting).

As for Riggleman, this kat resigned from the Nationals after they had a great win and again they have been playing some great baseball.  The team seems like it is finally coming together and everything is clicking for them; and they are doing this while they have some GREAT prospects flying through their minor league systems.

So why would Riggleman quit what looks to be a great situation??

Apparently Riggleman was upset that the Nationals were not picking up his 2012 option until further discussion at the end of the season.  Riggleman wanted more security and the Nationals were not hearing that, so Riggleman quit.

He quit on every player that played hard everyday for him and he in my opinion committed the most selfish act!  Baseball is a game where sacrifice is key and it is not about one players stats; unfortunately Riggleman let his stats get in the way.

What would we (fans) ever do if an athlete decided in mid-season that since his team failed to pickup his contract option that he would just stop playing and resign?

The media and fans would criticize that player until there was no end!

If Riggleman gets a new job, I wonder if he would support his players when they complain about their contracts.

WTF/WTH – Wednesdays Lupe Fiasco on Bill O’Reilly

Lupe Fiasco going up against Bill O’Reilly to discuss Lupe’s comments about President Obama being a “Terrorist” was pretty much boring TV.  I will give credit that Lupe was not shaken and many people in that same situation have been flustered by the style of O’Reilly.

But…..

Lupe had one major slip up in his defense of his comments; he stated the reason we went into Afghanistan was to find Osama Bin Laden.  To say that the United States presence in Afghanistan was solely about Bin Laden is just not true.  O’Reilly corrected Lupe and explained the U.S. went to Afghanistan for more than just Bin Laden, it was about taking away a safe haven for Al-Qaeda as well removing the ruling government at that time; the Taliban.  Who were providing Al-Qaeda that sanctuary.

If you are going to show up to battle Bill O’Reilly you better have your facts right; and it’s not about protecting yourself from being called out but it is also to call O’Reilly out when SPINS the truth.

Also, as much as I hate to say it O’Reilly made a very fair point in saying that Lupe should be careful when making controversial statements like calling the president a terrorist.  Lupe Fiasco has a lot of young fans who will take his comments as the absolute truth without doing the proper research and that is dangerous.  I said the same thing when Kanye West said George Bush doesn’t care about Black people, all in all it’s a reckless comment in my opinion and we need stars need to be more careful in making political statements.

As for O’Reilly painting all of Lupe Fiasco fans as not being capable of understanding politics with such a broad paint brush is just as reckless in all honesty… It’s funny how the ‘Political Ignorance’ of the Tea Party is celebrated among the GOP but in this case for O’Reilly it’s a deficiency for the Black community.  Of course O’Reilly never directly pointed to the Black community but we all know what he meant when he talks about Lupe Fiasco fans.

Militant Mondays – Former Marlins Manager Edwin Rodriguez Quits!!

With the Florida Marlins struggling and free-falling to the bottom of the National League East with a 1-18 record in June; manager Edwin Rodriguez did the unthinkable when he suddenly resigned Sunday.  According to ownership Rodriguez was not in danger of losing his job and his resignation was apparently a surprise to ownership.

Last year on June 23rd the Marlins named Edwin Rodriguez as the 1st Puerto Rican-born manager in major league history; unfortunately he could not last at least 1 year.

Rodriguez quitting is something you just don’t do in sports!! 

A reputation like quitting is something that can follow for the rest of your career; who can forget when Scottie Pippen refused to go back into the game when the final play was not called for him.  Even though the Marlins were struggling Rodriguez should have stuck it out; let the Marlins fire you.  At least then no one would ever challenge his mental.

Being the 1st Puerto Rican-born manager comes with responsibility, could you imagine if Frank Robinson (1st Black Manager in Baseball) would have quit?

Hopefully Rodriguez quitting does not have a negative affect on future Puerto Rican-born players with aspirations of managing when their careers are over; as for Rodriguez if he has any future ideas of managing I think he will find it difficult to get another shot.  He had a chance to lead the Marlins into a new era as they would have been moving into a new stadium next season, this will be an exciting time for the Marlins but now Rodriguez will miss out on that.  They have great young talent poised to have an impact in the NL East, good luck finding a new job Edwin Rodriguez!!

Takeover Thursdays – Anthony Weiner Resigns

Finally ‘Weinergate’ has come to a conclusion; and with that said the 3 week circus involving Anthony Weiner and his infamous pics of him being shirtless and his ‘Frank and Beans’ can now pack up its tent and move on.

BUT……

Before the circus could leave town Weiner had to have one more moment in the sun.  Weiner held a press conference to announce that he would be stepping down as Representative of New York’s 9th District.  Not sure if Weiner believed this would be a quick and quiet press conference, if he did then it is no shock that his self indulged pics are now all over the net.

So what is next for Anthony Weiner?

As embarrassing this scandal is it’s not the end of the world for Weiner; the key is he never did anything illegal… Stupid YES, but nothing illegal!

Look at Eliot Spitzer as an example of a comeback story; he stepped down as Governor of New York.  Shortly after he was a contributor to CNN and then he turned that into a show on CNN.  All the while as his successor David Paterson struggled as governor, there was actually polls showing that New Yorkers would be open to Spitzer returning as governor.

Weiner’s strength is his gift for gab; he has had some memorable moments on the floor of the House of Representatives.  That is a talent that can carry over into the world of political pundit, he just needs to take a step back and let everything cool down.  News networks like MSNBC and CNN will be knocking on his door and don’t be surprised if Fox News requests his services; can you imagine the segments with O’Reilly and Weiner going back and forth?

Who knows after a couple of years have passed Weiner might be able to fulfill his dream of becoming Mayor of NYC; I mean Washington DC elected a former crackhead twice!!

Now the Yankees wanna fight…

So now the Yankees wanna fight….

After getting beat up physically and mentally by their hated rivals the Boston Red Sox, the NY Yankees decided that they would not be pushed around by the Cleveland Indians.  After Fausto Carmona gave up a bomb to Curtis Granderson, he decided to send a message to the next batter… Mark Teixeira.

Carmona threw a high fastball right at Tex hitting him in the back and sending him to the dirt; being that he was already hit earlier in the week I guess he had enough.  Tex got up and let Carmona just how he felt and that led to the benches being cleared.  No punches were thrown but at least the Yanks got up off their asses and did something.

BUT….

Why wait until now to clear the bench?

After the game Girardi talked about being tired of his players getting hit, and all that talk sounds great.  Unfortunately the Yankees are still SOFT!!!

And the reason why I am saying they are still soft is because they waited until the Red Soxs left town to open their mouths.  Where was all this fight when Boston was hitting Jeter, Rodriguez and Tex?  The Yanks wanted no piece of Boston but they were quick to go at the Indians, LOL!!

The past week has shown who the Big Dawgs in the AL East and it’s NOT the NY Yankees, they better get their weight up before Boston runs away with the division.

By the way, Alex Rodriguez hit a homerun in today’s game and then was hit later on in the game.  It Looks like teams are flat-out challenging the Yanks, the pitchers for the Yankees better step up and protect their teammates or else there are going to be problems internally with the Yanks!!

F-A-Natic Fridays – Are the Yankees SOFT???

As much I hate the Yankees I never thought I would ever think of the Yankees being SOFT, but after watching Boston come into Yankee stadium and sweep the series I think it’s time to starting questioning the mental makeup of this Yankee team.

Not only did Boston sweep the series but they also physically inflected some pain on the Yankees.  Boston pitching managed to hit 4 Yankees, including knocking Mark Teixeira from the game after getting plunked on the knee.

So how did the Yankees respond?

Well……

As I already mentioned the Yankees got swept at HOME by their hated rivals; so obviously Tex being hit didn’t ignite anything in them. Then on top of that David Ortiz went off on them AGAIN and blasted a couple of homeruns.  One of the homeruns Big Papi apparently offended Yankee manager Joe Girardi with the flip of the bat; so I guess this would be the time when the Yankees would definitely retaliate.  Girardi is an old school type of guy, so you have to believe something would happen, right???

Well……

So the Yankees did FINALLY respond as C.C. Sabathia hit Ortiz in the leg with a 97 mph fastball. Of course that only happened AFTER Josh Beckett hit Derek Jeter and Alex Rodriguez.

WTH!!!!

So the Yankees finally hit David Ortiz after 161 career games and 34 career homeruns against them; AND after the Red Soxs hit 3 of their star players.  I guess that seems like a fair trade-off, LOL!!!

Yeah, the Yankees are soft as baby shit!!!

There is no way the Yankee teams that had Paul O’Neil and Roger Clemens would have ever let that go down.  Without a doubt there would have been some kind of bench clearing brawl…

Where is Don Zimmer?  His old ass has more fight than these NY Yankees!!

No wonder the Yankees were swept at home, they have no heart.  I will even say that my NY Mets have more heart than these pretty boy Yankees; The Mets have 2 superstars down and they show more fight.

After Boston’s slow start the Yankees had the chance to bury their hated rivals; instead they let them stay in the race and now Boston is in 1st place.  Even though it is still early in the season (really not), I am not sure the Yankees have what it takes to challenge the Red Sox.  Of course the Yankees have proven me and others a lot smarter than me wrong before….

The only difference is those Yankees teams of past seasons had HEART!!

Takeover Thursdays – Stephen A Smith

So once again Stephen A Smith (SAS) opened up his mouth to make himself apart of the conversation.  SAS can’t help but want to be a factor in sports commentary; yesterday on Jim Rome’s show SAS talked about Bron’s mysterious lack of presence in the Game 4 loss to the Mavs.  For whatever reason SAS decided that he will drop a hint that LeBron James horrible Game 4 was more than just Bron having a bad game.

SAS talked about Bron possibly having off the court distractions/issues that may have caused the terrible Game4…..

Ummm, ok!!

SAS, what exactly are those off the court distractions?

When someone makes a comment like that it is only natural for everyone to inquire what those distractions are; BUT as soon as SAS alluded to possible “Distractions” he quickly added that it is none of our business.

WHAT???

How do you sit there and RECKLESSLY throw out statements about LeBron having possible off the court issues during the NBA Finals??

Come on Stephen A Smith, you know better than that.  Terrible job on his part and to me unprofessional… Because of SAS comments the next line of questions from Jim Rome were about LeBron’s mental makeup.

One second SAS is defending Bron’s toughness but then moments later he challenges Bron’s heart, where do you stand SAS?

That is weak on Stephen A Smith part; instead of just simply reporting on the NBA Finals for a quick minute Stephen A Smith is making himself the story.  Now everyone wants to know what does SAS know about LeBron’s off the court life.  On top of that SAS then wants to act innocent and get mad that everyone is hitting him up about his comments; STOP IT!!!!

You got exactly what you wanted Stephen A and that is attention; do us all a favor and just report on the game and stop trying to be the game.

WTF/WTH Wednesday – Really Anthony Weiner?????

On Tuesday I laid out what seemed to be a simple path were Rep Anthony Weiner (D-NY) could somewhat recover from ‘Weinergate’ (Talking Points Tuesdays – Anthony ‘Weinergate’ Weiner).

  • Keep a low profile
  • A do what you can for your constituents; fill potholes and cleanup the neighborhood playgrounds

With that said the 1 stipulation in all of this was that Weiner would have to stay clear of any more controversy; there could be no more pictures or emails/chats leaked from other women. It was the whole reason behind Weiner’s press conference on Monday; Weiner would stand there and answer every question from the media until there were no more questions.  At that point the story could then begin the process of fading away; of course there would still be the Ethics Investigation but since no crime was committed Weiner would have more than likely received a slap on the wrist.

WELL……………………

You can throw all of that out the window as a new photo has emerged, and this time the photo is x-rated!

WTF!!!!!

Before Weiner spoke on Monday Conservative Blogger Andrew Brietbart held an impromptu press conference stating that he had another photo in his possession that Weiner had sent to another woman.  He stated this photo was of the x-rated nature and that he would not release photo if Weiner would stop attacking him (Breitbart) and stop accusing him of hacking his (Weiner) Twitter account.  When Weiner stepped to the podium he apologized to Breitbart and at that point it was assumed the alleged x-rated photo would not be released.  Breitbart went as far to say that he did not want to ruin Weiner’s family life so he saw no reason to release the new photo.

OH WELL…..

So Wednesday Breitbart appeared on the Opie and Anthony radio show and it was there Breitbart decided to show Opie and Anthony the pic of Weiner’s wiener.  Go figure why Breitbart is walking around with a pic of Weiner’s erect penis on his phone (some kind of sick enjoyment I guess).  While Breitbart was showing the pic to Opie and Anthony, one of the radio station guys took a pic of the pic from their phone and posted it out on Twitter.

Now we have Anthony Weiner’s Frank and Beans all over the internet!!!

And Weinergate continues

At this point I think it is time for Weiner to just tap out and resign from his position, this is just getting out of hand.  Sending X-rated photos is too much in my book; unless this story loses its legs it will continue to take away from what is important (Jobs, Debt Ceiling, etc…).

By the way let us not forget that it was also announced today that Weiner’s wife is pregnant!

It’s time for Weiner to take his ‘bat and balls’ and go home, LOL!!!

P.S. Since this post is about some dudes genitals I feel the need to add a major PAUSE for this entire post!

Talking Points Tuesdays – Anthony ‘Weinergate’ Weiner

As many of you know I am a big fan of Representative Anthony Weiner and his famous rants on the floor of the House of Representatives; but it seems the same ego that had him calling out House Republicans all throughout the Healthcare Debate has led to his fall from grace.  Only ego would let a married public official believe that he can send pics of his bare chest and underwear covered penis to women on Twitter.

It was also ego that convinced Weiner to lie about posting the pic of his penis and blame it on a hacked Twitter account.  Now Weiner will have to put that ego aside as he attempts to survive this controversy and hold onto to what is left of his political career.

As Politico pointed out this morning it’s not like Weiner had a standout legislation record; he was more known as a passionate mouth piece that stood out during the Healthcare Debates.  It was Weiner’s fire that helped keep the momentum going for reform.  Many will say that Weiner’s rants and brash ways was his way to build his inevitable run for Mayor of NYC; I have to admit that the idea of the fiery Weiner running NYC was very intriguing….

Unfortunately the likelihood of that happening now is more of a dream than a reality!!!

New Yorkers love a comeback story, we can understand people making mistakes…. But WTH!!!!!

If Weiner would have simply admitted that he was the one who sent the pic of his penis to 21-year-old Gennette Nicole Cordova he might still have an outside chance of still running for mayor of NYC 2013.  Again it would have been an outside shot; but with Weiner admitting to lying his chances at running for mayor in the near future are dead.

But all is not lost with Weiner, at this point he has not committed a crime (except against his marriage).  There will be an ethics investigation into behavior and the worst that will happen is that he will be given a slap on the wrist for being STUPID!

What’s important for Weiner at this point is that he has to do something that he may not be used to… Keep quiet and keep a low profile!  Weiner took the 1st steps yesterday finally admitting he is the penis pic tweeter (LOL); then he stood up in front of the press and answered just about every embarrassing question.  The point is to get all the questions out of the media’s system and then try to move on; the moving on part will not be easy especially with Republicans and even some Democrats who could look to exact some revenge on the hot-headed congressman who at times took no prisoners.  I am sure Rep. Peter King (R-NY) a known adversary of Weiner is taking a lot of joy watching Weiner squirm.

All in all Weiner will not be able to control what Republicans and Democrats will do with his future, but what he can do in keeping his head low is focusing on the little things.

If there is a pot hole that needs to be filled, Weiner should be out there with a shovel filling that pot hole!

If there is a park to be cleaned up, Weiner should be there with a broom and brand new swings set!

If there is a block party or parade that needs a permit, Weiner should be right there filling out the paper work!

In other words focus on the people who put you in office, work on possibly winning their trust back.  Maybe, JUST MAYBE… he will be able to regain the fire that made him a rising star as mouth piece for Democrats!
