This morning the Senate successfully voted to end a Republican filibuster that would have held up debate on a new Gun Control Bill.

68-31, to end a Republican filibuster blocking the start of debate on a new gun control bill, a top priority for President Barack Obama and Democratic leaders.  Sixteen Republicans crossed the aisle and voted with Democrats. Two Democratic senators – Mark Begich of Alaska and Mark Pryor of Arkansas – sided with the majority of Republicans. Sixty votes were needed for passage.

Every once in a while common sense does a play a role in government.  Last week 13 Senate Republicans including Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio sent Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid a letter informing him their intentions of filibustering any legislation that would “infringe” on the American’s people 2nd Amendment right.

Whatever your belief/stance is concerning gun control having an open debate on the legislation being offered is good for everyone.  Plus this legislation should have a fair shot at being voted on; let the record show where certain senators stand in the debate of gun control.  Let the people see where there elected officials stand!e

Here is something to start thinking about…  Once the Senate comes up with some kind of gun control legislation, what will House Majority Leader John Boehner do?

Will Boehner allow the bill to be debated or will he stuff the bill in a draw to collect dust?  If you were Boehner what would you do???
