Austin HS Football Player Apollo Hester Gives an Awesome Interview!!!

Apollo Hester just set the bar very high on what makes a good interview.

In this Social Media world we see ridiculous images of people everyday, and as a Black man I am tired of seeing videos go viral showing people of color looking foolish. From the “Obama Phone Lady to Sweet Brown’s “Ain’t Nobody Got Time for That…”

Here’s a refreshing/inspiring message from a young man giving an interview after a H.S. football game

“Keep smiling, no matter what you’re going thru if you fall down, just get up. If you can’t get up, your friends are there to help you up. Your momma’s there, your daddy’s there, God’s there, hey I’m there to help you up, you’re there (interviewer)… It’s going to be alright, keep smiling man!”

Kudos to this kat Apollo Hester, this is the type of video that needs to go viral!

@Mets Logo Change?

ICYMI and you probably did unless you are a die-hard New York Mets fan, Mets twitter fandom kind of blew up last night with when some fans noticed a slight change to the traditional logo on the Mets Facebook and Twitter account. This subtle change was well documented by @MetsPolice; Mets Logo Change

The Mets logo since their inception in 1962 has always been the following

Mets

The building circled on the right is the UN building, and for whatever reason the Mets PR dept recently changed to the following logo on their social media

Mets2

Now notice the UN building replaced by the ‘601 Lexington Tower’ formerly known as the Citigroup building. Rumors started swirling that this change was a result of the Mets selling out to Citigroup which is the namesake of their home Citi Field. That rumor quickly died as someone noted the building is no longer owned by Citigroup, but still the question remained why the change?

According to Adam Rubin (beat writer for the Mets), the Mets have formally stated there have been no changes to the logo

Rubin

Only the Mets could have something like this happen and have it turn into some kind of story. In all honesty when the story broke on twitter last night it did give me a reason not to pay attention to the Mets losing another game they should have won last night.

I will say, it is good to see there are still hardcore Mets fans, we are a special breed!

Side note, Mets fans already know this but Jacob deGrom is a special talent. If you get a chance, watch a game when this kid pitches. Started last night’s game striking out the first 8 batters he faced; finished the game with 13-Ks. In 2015 the Mets should have a dynamic 1-2 punch with Matt Harvey and deGrom.

Floyd Mayweather Jr and his Unnecessary Comments on Ray Rice

Floyd Mayweather Jr believes the NFL should have stayed with the 2-game suspension on Ray Rice.

Not a complete shocker coming from someone who was sentenced to 90-days in jail for his own domestic abuse charges.

I’ll admit that I am a fan of Mayweather the boxer and business man, but that’s where it ends. Mayweather’s recent comments concerning the video of Rice knocking out his then fiancé Janay Palmer are disgusting and appalling.

A master of promotion and bringing attention to himself, Mayweather stepped over the line with his thoughts on domestic abuse…

“I think there’s a lot worse things that go on in other people’s households, also,”

“It’s just not caught on video, if that’s safe to say.”

Floyd then stated…

“Like I’ve said in the past, no bumps, no bruises, no nothing,” Mayweather said. “With O.J. and Nicole, you seen pictures. With Chris Brown and Rihanna, you seen pictures. With (Chad) Ochocinco and Evelyn, you seen pictures. You guys have yet to see any pictures of a battered woman, a woman who says she was kicked and beaten (by Mayweather). So I just live my life and try to stay positive, and try to become a better person each and every day.” – Floyd Mayweather Jr

Mayweather needs to just focus on boxing, this is not the type of attention he wants. I am guessing we will see some kind of apology for his comments soon.

ICYMI: Mo’ne Davis Gives Autograph to Yasiel Puig

I know I am 2 days late on this, but the pic of Mo’ne Davis signing an autograph for Yasiel Puig of the Los Angeles Dodgers is one of the great moments of 2014.

Puig_Davis

Puig is showing Davis the ultimate respect in asking for autograph!

By the way, Davis threw out the 1st pitch before the game and showed no jitters

She is too cool, I can’t even imagine how nervous I would be standing in the Dodgers’ dugout and then throwing the 1st pitch in front of all those people!

Also, here is an interview Davis did for ESPN

When She Wants To Borrow Your Uber Login….

Is there ever a proper time in a relationship when it’s ok to give your girl your Uber login?

I mean Uber is kind of personal (at least to me), I have multiple credit cards in my profile. Plus I value my rating in Uber; I can’t have someone destroying my rating with some foolishness.

I guess it would be cool to share if you’re married or in a relationship with someone who you trust, but it’s definitely not cool to share with some chick you just met a couple of weeks ago. Well, this past weekend I had to deal with such a request….

Folks there are a couple of things you should keep in mind before requesting someone’s Uber

  1. If you want to use my Uber, you will have a better chance at success (not really, but just saying) if you called me instead of asking via text. Again my Uber is kind of personal for me so at least have the decency to use the old fashion way of communication.
  2. I can be generous so when I offer to send Uber for you and ask for the address where you are at; your first response should not be, “I’ve been drinking, I don’t know the address…” THIS will not entice me to comply with your request, and as I stated before, I will be rated based on how you act. Call a cab!
  3. Telling me you will not abuse my Uber definitely will not give me a sense of relief
  4. When I ask, “Why don’t you just download Uber and sign up for it?” Your response should not be, “Well, I got kicked off of Uber for yelling at the driver and getting into a big fight with him…”
  5. And finally you should keep this in mind, If You’re NOT my girl, don’t even ask!

Doc Gooden Documentary Tonight on SNY

It’s hard to believe that it has been 30-years since Dwight “Doc” Gooden made his MLB debut for the New York Mets. Tonight SNY will debut its documentary about Doc Gooden’s rise and fall as a young 19-year old in the Big Apple.

Before Matt Harvey and Jacob deGrom, Doc Gooden was ‘Must Watch TV’!!!

‘The Good Doctor’ airs tonight on SNY at 9:30pm (Eastern)
