Carmelo Anthony to Start Tonight for the Houston Rockets #STA7Melo #ItsOnBrodway

The Houston Rockets with Chris Paul (Missing time due to suspension) and James Harden are off to a 1-3 start, and so far newest Rocket Carmelo Anthony has not done much coming off the bench. Melo has talked about having to adjust to coming off the bench, but it seems like Mike D’Antoni is willing to give Melo a shot at starting to jump start the Rockets.

You know Melo has been wanting this, but it remains to be seen if the results will be any different. Even though the season just started, this Melo looks like the OKC Melo who just camped behind the 3-point line.

I know Melo can no longer carry a team, but he should be able to give a team like the Rockets effective minutes. Everyone talks about ‘Olympic Melo’ but what happened to “Bully Ball’ Melo in the post? Why not run a couple of plays for him in the post?

Ok, ok enough of all that, I am not here to be a Melo apologist. I just wanted to give a lil commentary about Melo making his first start for the Rockets tonight. To be honest i am not expecting much, but at the same time I hope nothing but the best for the guy

One last thing, you know Melo had to be sitting on the bench during this 1-3 start channeling the high school football legend Bobbie Miles (Friday Night Lights)

HAHAHA, I can see Melo now, “Y’all wanna win, put Melo in… I’m bout to spin!”

Yankee Fans Relax, You Still Have a Good Team

Yes, last night was a disappointing moment for New York Yankee fans. With the acquisition of Giancarlo Stanton, Yankee fans had dreams of Stanton and Aaron Judge hitting 100 homers combined in a season.

But unlike the great Yankee teams led by Derek Jeter, the 2018 Yanks lacked strong pitching and a lineup of hitters that worked counts and frustrated pitchers. Still, the Yankees are still in good position to compete for an number of years. They have a number of young talented players ready to step up, while older players like C.C. Sabathia and Brett Gardner have probably seen their last days in pinstripes.

Players like Gleyber Torres and Miguel Andujar (soon to be AL Rookie of the Year) have already produced at the major league level, with Chance Adams (P), Domingo Acevedo (P), and Clint Frazier (hopefully can get past concussion issues) seemingly ready to contribute at the next level.

24-hours have not even passed, and fans are already pining for Joe Girardi, talking about signing Manny Machado and Bryce Harper… STOP IT!!!!

So Yankee fans, as my guy N.O.R.E. would say, “You Gotta RELAX!”

Of course, what do I know… I’m just a Mets fan that hates the Yankees

Lil Wayne Still Cool With Eli Manning, but…

Odell Beckham Jr / Lil Wayne‘s  ESPN interview that aired Sunday morning received a ton of criticism from commentators with OBJ being labeled as selfish player due to his commentary on the state of the New York Giants.

With the Giants off to a 1-3 start (before losing to the Carolina Panthers) OBJ voiced his frustrations with not enough big plays and not being able to pinpoint the source of the issue; QB, play calling, or heart?

Now it’s not uncommon for players to complain, in fact it’s basically common place when it comes to dynamic receivers who feel if they get the ball they make good things happen for team. But what was different about this interview was Lil Wayne presence. Like what did he have to do this and what does he add to this story?

So when Eli Manning was asked about the OBJ/Lil Wayne interview, in classic Eli dry humor, Eli stated
“I don’t watch Lil’ Wayne much”

With the Eli response and NYC sportswriter Frank Isola‘s snarky tweet about OBJ’s muffed punt return

Tunechi woke up this morning with a message for everyone on his Instagram….

Good morning!!

A post shared by Lil Wayne (@liltunechi) on

In case you missed what Wayne was saying,

“Frank, I know you in New York. I spent a little bit of time on an Island there, called Rikers Island,”

“I don’t know much about you though. Fact is, you don’t know much about me. With that said, keep my name out your mouth.”

Addressing Eli Manning

“Every time somebody bad mouth you, I be the first one to say – you can ask Skip Bayless, that’s my homie – first thing I’m gon’ say is ‘man listen, I got an uncle that was doing time that remembers seeing Eli, Archie, Peyton, Cooper, he remembers seeing them at five in the morning every other morning on the schoolyard, way before the students get there, practicing. I’m the first one to back you up,”

“And here you talk about you don’t watch Lil Wayne much. That’s fine. I’m cool with you, I don’t care what you watch. But you know, this is hometown love, man. You ain’t gotta do me like that. I didn’t say anything bad about you, man.”

“I ain’t gon’ say nothing bad about you now,”

“It’s still hometown love, I fucks with you Eli. It’s all good, you ain’t gotta watch much of me. You should probably listen, if you could. You probably need to with the way you’ve been playing. You need to bang some Carter V before games.”

Well, okay Wayne…

Didn’t realize you were a backer of Eli, good to know. As for Frank Isola, he is annoying and knowing Isola I doubt he will heed the warning, so we shall see.

As for the OBJ interview, it’s not a good look for him and he needs to figure out better ways to release his frustrations. He should take a page of LeBron James playbook, as Bron has mastered the media in this social media age. At the end of the day Odell wants to win, but he is struggling with balancing that will to win and carrying the pressure of a big time contract. Being a receiver he is dependent on a lot of pieces for him to successful; QB, offensive line, and offensive scheme. As great as he is, he has to learn without his teammates he’s not going anywhere fast.

Side note, in response to Lil Wayne the Giants blasted Wayne’s Carter V during practice today…

NY Mets Campaigning Hard for Jacob DeGrom for NL Cy Young

About a month ago I mentioned to a fellow Mets‘ fan that it would be nice to see the Mets push the narrative that Jacob deGrom should win the 2018 NL Cy Young regardless of his record.

Respect to the Mets (and because they are my squad do or die), they have capping real hard for deGrom over the past month or so. Constant discussion from the broadcast team, they pushed the agenda on their social media with the hashtag #48forCy

The Mets also put together a cool lil video…

I am often very critical of the Mets organization, but I have to give them their props for getting something right. Now if they can just operate like a team in one of the largest media markets…

Even Testing an Alert System Triggers Pres Trump Haters… This Is A Test (beeeep)

We have all received those AMBER Alerts and Flood Warnings on our cell phones. This afternoon (Wednesday) at 2:18pm (Eastern), FEMA and the FCC performed the first test of the Wireless Emergency Alerts system.

And soon after the alert came out, social media blew up with folks criticizing the alert.

Come on people, are y’all that triggered by President Trump that you have to clown EVERYTHING associated with him or show displeasure?!?

People couldn’t help themselves and tweet the hacky joke, “Can I block this…” Or ask if this meant that Trump use the system the same way he uses Twitter?

Before we get too far ahead of ourselves, let’s look at the facts as reported by Vox.com

  • Approximately 100 mobile carriers, including all major wireless companies, participated in the testing. A second test that put messages on TV and radio, known as the Emergency Alert System, took place a couple of minutes later
  • The alert was transmitted in English and Spanish. Cell towers broadcast the test for about half an hour, during which time most cell phones that were switched on and within range of an active cell tower got the test message
  • The TV and radio system has been tested three times before; the texting system hasn’t. The test was initially scheduled for September but was postponed because of Hurricane Florence (Smart Move)
  • The system is the same one that’s used to warn the public about dangerous weather or missing children, such as tornado warnings and Amber Alerts. Users can’t opt out of texts, a requirement from a 2006 law passed by Congress called the Warning, Alert, and Response Network Act. Congress requires the system be tested every three years
  • The national warning system predates Trump and has been under development for years, and officials say there are some pretty specific guardrails in place to make sure it’s always used correctly
  • According to the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System Modernization Act of 2015, the system “shall not be used to transmit a message that does not relate to a natural disaster, act of terrorism, or other man-made disaster or threat to public safety.”

This is ultimately a good thing, but I will say it is still important for the people to know/understand how the system works. For example, how the system will be triggered? What’s the chain of approval for an alert to go out? What kind of a follow-up will we receive; instructions, etc…?
