Someone Get Ray Lewis…

SMH, I need someone to get Ray Lewis, what’s going on with this brother that he is so “hurt” that Odell Beckham Jr doesn’t want to deal with him and his methods?

For the past couple of days Ray has been on repeat talking about Odell’s “foundation”, as well as rambling about other people he has helped.

And don’t get me wrong, if Ray is able to help people get on the right path that’s great. I will never hate on someone getting their life together, but Ray is out here on FS-1’s ‘Undisputed’ talking about Odell as if the man’s life is in danger.

Odell has had his fair share of issues, but in listening to Ray you would think Odell was someone frequently mentioned on NYPD’s police blotter.

Ray Lewis needs to RELAX, if this is about Odell, why has the story turned into how hurt he is?

Vladimir Guerrrero Jr a Chip off the old Block with a Walk-Off Homer in Montreal #MLBSeason2018 #OpeningDay

It has been 15-years since a Guerrero stood at the plate and brought fans to their feet in Montreal. As he took the field at Olympic Stadium he received a standing ovation from the Montreal crowd.

Stepping to the plate in the bottom of the 9th, Vladimir Guerrero Jr channeled his Hall of Fame father Vlad Guerrero, hitting a walk-off homer for the Toronto Blue Jays in an annual exhibition game before the start of the 2018 MLB Season. Wearing his father’s number 27, Guerrero took 1-0 pitch deep over the left-centerfield wall.

What a magical moment to lead us into the 2018 season, here’s to hoping for more magical moments throughout the season.

PLAY BALL!!

By the way, for those of you who never saw Vlad Sr play, check the highlights

President Donald Trump is Trolling Us….

President Donald Trump is trolling us!

Plain and simple, and this is something I have been telling people since he became President of the United States. Unfortunately way too many of you out there still don’t get it, and fall for it EVERY time Trump sends out a tweet, or says something off-the-cuff during photo-ops.

Example, Donald Trump says the following this past Monday

“You don’t know until you test it, but I think, I really believe I’d run in there, even if I didn’t have a weapon, and I think most of the people in this room would have done that too,”

Social media went nuts with all types of memes and mentioning how Trump avoided the draft with deferments.

Whhhyyyyyyy????

Any sane person knows Trump is full of shit, and yes there are Trump supporters who believe it, but who cares? You are never going to convince a Trump Supporter that Trump is full of shit, so why waste the energy? Why give this story ANY energy at all?

It never fails as my social media feeds still goes nuts, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. And this is causing serious issues with people’s mental states…

In September 2017 The Washington Post’s Dana Milbank wrote about this,

“Since the start of Trump’s rise to power,” Aibel writes, analysts “have become acutely attuned to traumatic arousals” in patients from the political environment. “Several colleagues have shared that many formerly eating disordered patients were retriggered to bulimic episodes that hadn’t occurred in many years until Trump’s candidacy. . . . In the run-up to the election, mental health providers of all stripes were reporting ‘a striking number of anxious and depressed clients who are fixated on the election, primarily fearful of Trump.’ Since Election Day, such colloquialisms as Trump Slump, Trump Anxiety and Trump Affective Disorder achieved cultural and perhaps even clinical currency (in an informally diagnostic sense, of course) along with increases in reported incidents of bullying” and the like.

Those on the right might label this “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” much as I and others detected an “Obama Derangement Syndrome” previously. But the mental trauma caused by politics has reached a point, Aibel argues, where psychoanalysts must rethink how they do things.

As mentioned by Milbank, conservatives definitely had anxiety over Barack Obama, but this seems different. And maybe I notice it more because I am a Democrat and I have more friends who are Democrats. Whatever it is people have to relax a lil bit.

I am no Trump fan, I have despised the man since the 80s (Central Park 5), but I refuse to let this man affect my day-to-day quality of life. And this is coming from someone who loves politics. For those who no me I was that person that debate politics for hours on Twitter and Facebook. I would go to sleep debating and then I would continue that debate first thing in the morning.

And what did I gain from that?

Nothing, absolutely nothing!

Well, not completely nothing, but nothing of substance that would help me going forward. I had to learn that not everyone on Twitter is was worth my energy.

In all honesty I am way too smart to waste time on some lame with 15 followers… I know that sounds so bad, but what’s worse is that people are hyperventilating on their Facebook and Instagram feeds, where more than likely they are screaming to people who think like them.

It’s amazing that people/media still react to Trump, by now we know this guys story. This is the same man who felt the need to lie about the size of his inauguration crowd, and thought it was necessary to have his Press Secretary (Sean Spicer) lie about it as well.

Everything Trump does is not a four-alarm fire, relax…

The Surya Bonaly ‘Backflip’ #WinterOlympics #IceSkating #BlackHistoryMonth

Who remembers Surya Bonaly hitting her ‘Backflip’ during her performance at the 1998 Nagano Olympics???

Yoooo, that is crazy!

I recall Bonaly and thinking she’s not American but proud to see another Black figure skater after Debie Thomas.  Unlike Thomas and other skaters during that time Bonaly was very athletic from a gymnastic background. She had a combination of speed and power, but she did not fit the typical mold of the “Ice Princess” skater, and it hurt her scores at times. This all came to a head in 1994 at the Ladies World Championship.

For the judges Bonaly was just a jumper and the judges from the ISU went with the Ice Princess. Bonaly in defiance, refused to stand on the podium for 2nd place and even took off the medal during the ceremony.

That moment basically set the stage for the 1998 Olympics. The odds were already against Bonaly as she was recovering from an Achilles injury going into 98 Olympics, but she wanted to leave her mark as she was closing out her ice-skating career.

In her final performance, Bonaly struggled thru her short program and a slow start to her free skate put any chance for a medal out of reach.

“That was my last Olympics, and pretty much my last competition ever,”

“I wanted to leave a trademark.”

“I wanted to do something to please the crowd, not the judges,”

“The judges are not pleased no matter what I do, and I knew I couldn’t go forward anyway, because everybody was skating so good.”

Props to Bonaly, for standing up for herself and for being a damn good figure skater that deserves more props for what she accomplished in the world of figure skating.

Dana Loesch, “Crying white mothers are ratings gold…”

Full disclosure, I have had a number of conversations with Dana Loesch via Twitter. And we have had a number of conversations about taxes, civil liberties, national debt, and guns.
I like Dana and respect her knowledge on a number of topics, especially guns. She knows gun laws and statistics like the back of her hand, and many times when I have a question about a state’s gun laws, or the difference between guns, she is my go-to resources. Going into the town hall I knew it would be a tough environment for her, as emotions would be riding high. After watching the town hall (twice) I thought she did as about as good as anyone could have done.
I know many of my Liberal/Progressive friends will look at me funny for that last statement, but when I say she did a good job, I mean she stayed composed and worked to answer the questions of the students/parents/teachers. She didn’t lash out at anyone and she even defended students like Emma Gonzalez who in recent days was criticized by Conservatives/Guns Rights Activists.
And then today happened…
At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) conference Dana said the following,
“Many in legacy media love mass shootings. You guys love it,”
“Now I’m not saying that you love the tragedy. But I am saying that you love the ratings. Crying white mothers are ratings gold to you and many in the legacy media in the back (of the room).”
“And notice I said ‘crying white mothers’ because there are thousands of grieving black mothers in Chicago every weekend, and you don’t see town halls for them, do you?”
“Where’s the CNN town hall for Chicago? Where’s the CNN town hall for sanctuary cities?”
I understand what Dana is trying to say here but this made me cringe. As I stated earlier the night before Dana remained composed, and IMO we need more of that in these conversations as we have too many people talking AT each other instead of TO each other. Instead the image of Dana from this point on will be the following…

Dana will be called unhinged, and one of the most important points made during the town hall Wednesday will be missed. Dana brought up the point that only 38 states are providing less than 80% of felony convictions to the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). This is critical as the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) uses data from the NCIC to approve background checks for gun purchases.

It will not matter how many laws you put in place for gun control, if the background checks system doesn’t have all the information it needs to do the job it supposed to do.

Dana is right that no one talks about the flaws with NICS, the day after the town hall no one wrote about it or spoke about it. But she also added to the distraction with her CPAC speech.

CNN’s town hall “Stand Up: The Students of Stoneman Douglas Demand Action” #GunControl

CNN‘s town hall “Stand Up: The Students of Stoneman Douglas Demand Action,”that will air tonight at 9 pm (Eastern); participating in this conversation will be students from Stoneman, parents, community members, Florida Representative Ted Deutch, Senators Bill Nelson & Marco Rubio, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel, and NRA‘s national spokeswoman Dana Loesch.

It goes without saying that tonight’s town hall will be a passionate one, and there will be moments of people talking over each other. Hopefully those moments can be limited by Jake Tapper who will be hosting the event. So that we can focus on learning something.

For the past couple of days we have seen the pain of students and families who have lost loved ones and we have heard from the political pundits. It’s time to hear from lawmakers answer tough questions looking into the faces of students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School and tell them why more can’t be done.

I have heard how the NRA supports sensible gun regulations, but what exactly is that?

Dana Loesch is someone I have had several conversations with (over social media) and while we may disagree on many things; our conversations are always productive. This is the platform for Dana to be productive and clarify the NRA’s message,

What does the NRA consider sensible gun regulations?

Why does the NRA not trust calls for a national registry?

Is the NRA against a ban on “assault rifles” like the AR-15, and if so why?

Will any of these questions be answered? If I am honest with myself, no.

I hope I am wrong, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we get a bunch of people talking at each other instead of talking to each other.

Yoenis Cespedes Gets His Yoga On #Mets #LGM

NY Mets slugger Yoenis Cespedes got his yoga on this winter after suffering with leg injuries the past 2 seasons.

In 2016 Cespedes dealt with pulled quads and went into that offseason with the idea of strengthening his legs by lifting HEAVY weights. And it showed as Cespedes came in the 2017 Spring Training rocking tree trunks for legs. Unfortunately for Yo and the Mets, the heavy weightlifting only resulted in more leg issues. In 2017 the Mets saw their slugger only take the field for 81 games. After a frustrating 2017, Cespedes declared he needed to make a change in his workouts.

Encourage by Cespedes wanting to change his workout regiment, there was reason for optimism for Mets fans. Except the offseason came and went and no word on how Cespedes was doing.

Well Mets fans the wait is over!

Reporting to Spring Training Yo talked about what a difference this spring has been from previous years.

“Yoga has been working for me. Last season, the last couple of seasons, when I showed up down here, my lower back and body was very tight,”

“and I haven’t felt that yet. Yoga has been working for me.”

Cespedes will always be a muscle-bound beast,  but the addition of running and yoga can only help.

“So this year, I did three things differently. I ran. I did weight lifting, but not so heavy weights, and also did yoga trying to be ready for this,”

“With yoga, the muscles are more flexible right now. When I used to work out with heavy weight-lifting, I was strong, but I wasn’t flexible. Right now I am flexible because of yoga.”

For the Mets to be successful, they will need a healthy Yo as he is the main cog to the Mets lineup. No disrespect to Jay Bruce, Todd Frazier, and Michael Conforto; but Cespedes when on puts a charge into the lineup and team overall.

With all the leg injuries Cespedes has experienced over the past 2 seasons, I can imagine he may look to pick his spots to bust it out of the box or in the outfield in the early part of the season. And to be honest I am ok with that, as its more important to me to see Cespedes playing in August and September than trying to beat an infield hit in May.

Well, while we wait for Opening Day, does anyone have any suggestions for yoga classes in NYC for Yo??
