Takeover Thursdays – Cenk Uygur (The Young Turks) explains why he left MSNBC
Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks abruptly leaves MSNBC after a short stint holding down MSNBC’s 6pm time slot; and apparently it’s NOT because of low ratings. If you are familiar with Cenk’s work with The Young Turks you know the guy prides himself on research and he is HIGH OCTANE energy from start to finish!!!!
He is the type of guy that puts in the work and is not afraid to challenge all parties; what I always liked about Cenk is that he not only goes after Republicans but he will also let Democrats have it as well.
Especially the Obama Administration…..
I will admit that Cenk was not the most polished broadcaster and at times he just seemed awkward in his presentation, but with time and experience you would expect/hope that change.
In the YouTube clips below you will hear Cenk describe in detail his time at MSNBC and it is disappointing to hear. Of course there are always 2 sides to a story but even if half of Cenk’s story is true it’s still a disappointment.
“Where there’s smoke, there’s fire…”
Obviously Cenk ruffled someone’s feathers, why else remove a host that has decent ratings that were growing (according to Cenk). You always want a strong lead in for your prime-time lineup (Chris Matthews, Lawrence O’Donnell, Rachel Maddow, and Ed Schultz)??
And then you offer the guy more money to accept a lesser role?
Something is not right…. I don’t know if we will ever know the real reason why Cenk was being pushed out of the 6pm time slot but I am sure Cenk will continue his hard-hitting work online with The Young Turks.
As for the future of the 6pm time slot for MSNBC, it looks Rev. Al Sharpton will be the one to takeover. According to some critics if the decision to move Cenk was due to his broadcasting skills, the decision to go with Sharpton is far from an upgrade.
One thing will always hold true about MSNBC, if you are perceived to be a trouble-maker or hard to deal with. They will get rid of your ass, just ask Keith Olbermann!!!
If there is something to be said, “It’s On Broadway” to step up and say it!!
