I was a huge supporter/fan of Anthony Weiner before his setting scandal, and even then I was willing to give him a fresh start with his bid to become the next mayor of New York City. I mean we all make mistakes, so I was open to hear what he had to say and what his platform would be about.
And then more sexting nonsense was discovered, at that point I was done and so should have Weiner’s campaign. Instead he decided to continue to stay in the race and not be forced out.
If Weiner believes he still has a shot, I hope yelling at voters is not part of a strategy he believes is a winner…
Smh, the funny thing is that it was his fiery, confrontational style that made Weiner cool with many Democrats/Progressives.
Except, back then he was yelling at Republican congressmen and not potential voters.

Once again Rep Anthony Weiner (D-NY) hit a homerun while debating Republicans on the validity of the “Repealing the Job–Killing Health Care Law Act”. Republicans want to repeal the Health Care Law aka the Affordable Care Act, but why???
They say we should start fresh as the current law is just no good, as Rep Weiner clearly pointed out while speaking on the floor of the House… Republicans want to repeal the current law so that Republicans can put forth legislation that will do the following:
Coverage for pre-existing conditions
Help fill the donut hole that will help senior citizens pay for prescriptions
Give incentives for small businesses to supply
Ummmmm, wait a minute…..
Republicans want to repeal the current law so that they can put in place what the current law is ALREADY doing!!!!
Republicans are correct when they say there are problems with the current law but there is no reason to start over; focus on the real issues with the current law like the 1099 forms that will have to be submitted by small businesses. This is an unnecessary administrative burden on businesses, there has to be an easier way, let’s focus on coming up with a solution for that.
Many Public Opinion polls are showing that the argument for repeal is 50-50 at best right now; more people are wanting the bill to do more as the support for outright repeal is diminishing.
My advice to Republicans, you better be careful before you are caught on the wrong side of the argument. Get your mind right Boehner and get your crew focused on what is more important like Jobs and the Deficit!!
Meanwhile, enjoy the latest rant from my favorite congressman….

Everyone PLEASE take 5:23 minutes to watch the video below of Rep Anthony Weiner explain to the House Rules Committee the cost of repealing the Affordable Care Act aka the Health Care Reform Law!!
All I ask of anyone wanting to better understand the Health Care debates; do your research. Don’t take my word or even the word of Rep Weiner as the absolute truth; research everything Rep Weiner spoke about in the video clip and then make an informed decision on what is right and what is wrong.

During the “Snowpocalypse of 2010” the 5 Boroughs of NYC struggled to dig itself out of the 20 or so inches of snow. Many New Yorkers let it be know that they were not happy and Mayor Bloomberg was heavily criticized for the lack of response. Snow plows were nowhere to be found on the streets during or hours after the blizzard had passed.
While New Yorkers took out their frustration with the Mayor and snow on Twitter; Cory Booker the Mayor of Newark (New Jersey) took to the streets with his a shovel in one hand and his Twitter feed in the other.
While Mayor Bloomberg struggled to control the perception of how he and his administration was handling snow removal, Cory Booker used the power of Twitter to stay connected with his constituents. Through twitter Booker asked the people of Newark to let him know where there were snow issues. Tweet after tweet Booker responded to those in need asking them where they were located and letting them know help was on the way. In one instance someone tweeted that they needed diapers and Booker hand deliver the diapers himself.
Needless to say Booker received praise locally and nationally for his work; while Bloomberg is still being criticized from every angle.
So with a new snow storm hitting the NYC area, it looks like others are following the example of Cory Booker.
Anthony Weiner
Just this afternoon Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY) tweeted…
“Not to go all Cory Booker on you or anything, but I’m inviting Bk/Q residents to file snow removal beefs here.”
I applaud Weiner for his efforts and I hope it works for him; it will be interesting to read the complaints he will receive. There will be legitimate complaints but I guarantee that his account will be smashed with nonsense; I am sure it will be entertaining.
But in all seriousness I hope people utilize the services Weiner is providing, this is government working for you at your finger tips.
With that said I hope this time around I see some toughness out New Yorkers, the amount of whining I heard and read about was out of control and I expect better from NYC. As a New Yorker we pride ourselves on our toughness, in all honesty I didn’t see that toughness. Growing up in Queens it was no shock when it snowed that Queens was the last borough plowed. On my block neighbors helped each other; we cleared the sidewalks for the older folks on the block and we all chipped in to dig each others cars out. I was embarrassed by some of the b*#ching I heard… I know the city’s response was unsatisfactory but MAN UP!!

With House Democrats voting to oppose Obama’s Tax Cuts Compromise this is the time for Democrats in Congress to show they have some backbone. Just because Obama is president and he is a Democrat that doesn’t mean that Congressional Democrats have to follow his lead on every issue. In this case it is a good time for Democrats to stand up; the people spoke loudly during the mid-term elections with their vote. The change in Washington they hoped and wanted was for Obama not to be the typical politician. This Tax Cuts Compromise has typical Washington Politics written all over it; so I was very pleased to hear about the House Democrats standing up and at least asking for more debate.
What was also encouraging was that Republicans like Michele ‘Nutbag’ Bachmann was even asking questions about this compromise; LOL, I know how crazy it sounds but I just kind of sorta gave Bachmann some credit. Don’t get me wrong Bachmann is still and will always be a ‘Nutbag’ but I can’t disagree her when it comes to spending in general (Just for the record I still disagree with her on what should be cut spending wise). The next couple of days as we will see if more Democrats and Republicans will stand up and oppose this compromise. It will all depend on public opinion, these kats will go where the poll number go on this issue.
I predict that more Democrats will side with the likes of Peter Welch, Anthony Weiner, and Bernie Sanders and force the president to revisit his compromise. What will be the end result of more debate is still to be determined, I can only hope we see the Barack Obama in this video clip…
In the mean time let us hope that more Democrats will rally behind Bernie Sanders and do whatever it takes to stop this flawed compromise…

Once again my favorite Representative from New York Anthony Weiner challenges Republicans aka ‘Party of No’. Weiner in response to his fellow Representative from New York Peter King (R) went on another tirade calling out Republicans; if you recall Weiner on the same House floor called out Republicans during the Healthcare Reform debates (Takeover Thursdays – Anthony Weiner).
This time around Rep. Peter King (R) has sponsored a bill for 1st responders to 9/11; this bill would set aside $7.4 billion in additional aid to those suffering from health complications as a result of the toxins released after the 9/11 attacks. Of course this a bill that everyone should support; Democrats decided to put the bill through a procedure (Suspension Calendar) that would prevent any unnecessary amendments to be added to the bill. Suspension of the rules is a procedure generally used to quickly pass non-controversial bills in the House of Representatives; the one caveat is that you need 2/3 Majority for passage.
On Friday (July 31st) the 9/11 Responders Bill was brought up for vote; before the vote was taken Rep Peter King (R) (sponsor of the bill) spoke and called out Democrats for using the Suspension procedure. Saying that using this procedure made it impossible for the bill to pass; as he continued not once did Rep. King ever ask his fellow Republicans to vote for this bill.
Maybe I missed something but aren’t the Republicans always talking about never forget 9/11?? Well it seems they have forgotten 9/11 as they decided to choose politics over common sense; Republicans would rather say no to dealing with Democrats instead of choosing to side with the heroes of 9/11!!
The 9/11 Responders Bill would not pass as only 10 Republicans (including Rep King) voted yes; 159 voted against the bill. As Anthony Weiner would go on to say “Shame” on the 159 that voted against this bill. Moments after the bill was voted down Anthony Weiner gave one of his more passionate speeches….
I can’t say enough about Anthony Weiner, he is one of the few Democrats that will stand up and tell like it is. The best thing about Weiner is that even though he has shown much passion during these classic moments he still makes sense; there is no rambling. On Monday (8/2) Weiner defended his speech on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, he continued to point the finger to Republicans who fail to look at themselves in the mirror and recognize where the real issue lies.
Republicans are so consumed with the November elections and getting rid of President Obama that they will say ‘No’ to any bill that could be seen as progress for the Obama Administration (Healthcare Reform, Financial Reform, Unemployment Benefits, Jobs Bill etc..).
When will Republicans put the country instead of their party first???

If you don’t know Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY), you better get to know this kat!
Rep. Weiner performed his own version of a ‘Takeover’ Wednesday morning in the House of Representatives. In about 7 minutes Rep Weiner summed up all of the frustrations of the White House, Democrats/Progressives in the House and Senate and the American people who support Health Care Reform (HCR).
Finally someone took it to the Republicans as Anthony Weiner started his rant by telling Republicans, “You guys have chutzpah (audacity)…”. Weiner’s Brooklyn side came out on this day, he took the floor of The House like a thug from BK taking a street corner.
In the wake of the Health Summit, Rep Weiner went on a rant pointing out the hypocrisy of Republicans and Democrats. Twice during his rant Weiner was stopped as he called Republicans, “wholly owned subsidiary of the insurance industry…”. Basically saying that Republicans are in the hip pockets of the insurance companies and will do whatever to protect those companies; aka BITCHES for Health Insurers.
When he made that statement Rep Lungren (R-CA) asked that Weiner’s “words be taken down…”. Lungren is saying here that Weiner’s comments are inappropriate and requesting that they be stricken from the record. In doing this Lungren is able to interrupt Weiner and have him restate his comments using different language. After a short delay Weiner is then permitted to continue.
In one of the more Gangsta moments you will ever see in The United States House of Representatives; Weiner refuses to change his comment and basically continues to call Republicans the BITCH of Health Insurers. Again Lungren interrupts Weiner request his “words to be taken down”. Once Weiner is allowed to continue you can still feel the fire and passion from him. He rips Republicans for standing in the way of real reform, change that is good for the people. As Weiner is wrapping up his diatribe he points out that the long-standing hypocrisy from Republicans is coming to an end, “Enough of the phoniness. We are gonna solve this problem because for years our Republican friends have been unable to and unwilling to. Deal with it!”
Here is the video of Rep. Weiner’s rant:
Democratic Senators & Representatives need to watch this video and take notes. For too long Democrats took the high road and tried to have intellectual debates about HCR, we saw this time and time again during the summer with all the town hall meetings. That message was not being heard by the masses; Rep Weiner message Wednesday was heard by all and is the perfect lead-in for the Health Summit taking place Thursday morning!
President Obama, if you were looking for someone in Congress that would fight for Health Care Reform. Look no further than that kat who reps Brooklyn and Queens. Rep Anthony Weiner, I salute you… You own “Takeover Thursday”
