Rex Chapman Compares Zion Williamson to Rodney Rogers… and it’s a Good Comparison!

Ever since Zion Williamson‘s 1st collegiate game with the Duke Blue Devils, people have been obsessed with making him the undisputed #1 NBA Draft pick in 2019. This has led to struggling Knicks’ fans to dream about Zion wearing a Knicks uniform playing next to Kristaps Porzingis

I am not one of those Knicks fans clamoring for Zion, don’t get me wrong he is an athletic freak that can jump out of the gym. He’s dominating college kids with his 6’7′ (or 6’6”), 285 lb frame, but I’m hesitant how his game will translate from college to the pros. And I discussed my apprehension on Twitter, which led to a nice back and forth with fellow Knicks fan @PauliePancakes5 and Brooklyn Nets lover @AdamOrecchio

As I went thru listing what I believe are Zion’s negatives, Adam replied with positives that made sense. And then Paulie said the following…

At that time I believe I replied with, good comparison but I think Rogers had a better jumper and post-up game then Zion. I didn’t think much of the comparison after that until today, when Bomani Jones (@bomani_jones) retweeted former NBA player Rex Chapman‘s (@rexrex_chapman) tweet

I definitely needed the video to remind me how much of a beast Rodney Rogers was in college, DAMN!!!! Zions outweighs Rogers by approximately 50 lbs but the height, athleticism and ferocious finishes at the rim compares favorably.

So shout out to Rex and I guess [sigh] props to Paulie for the Zion / Rogers comparison, but at the end of the day I still wouldn’t take Zion #1

Milwaukee Bucks Website Clowns the NY Knicks

What’s that old saying?

To the Victors Belong the Spoils

New York Senator William L Marcy (1831)

Well the Bucks website is straight shootin’ at the Knicks with no regard, as the Bucks have pretty much owned the Knicks over their last 15 games against each other. Calling Giannis Antetokounmpo The King of New York, mentioning Giannis play against the Knicks being similar to how Michael Jordan would put in work at Madison Square Garden. Stating that New York and the Knicks is just a stage for superstars to show out.

Anyway, as Jordan showed in the 90s, the optimal function of the Knicks in the NBA is to provide a cinematic setting for an opponent to beat them both routinely and savagely. Our pal Giannis, with his thousands of fans waiting for him outside MSG after beating the Knicks, has stepped into this role nicely, and we thank him for it.

Mil Bucks

And that was only the beginning…

While complimenting Kristaps Porzingis, they managed to still take a shot at the Knicks

Genuinely it is too bad that Porzingis is hurt because these games are way more fun when he — the only worthy foe to Giannis — is in there.

Next up…

Lance Thomas. The poor fella guarded Giannis on his step-back game-winner in the Garden. When people think of Lance Thomas (and I am not sure they do!), they should probably think of this.

And of course they left the most fire for Mario Hezonja who dunked on and stepped over Giannis in their last meeting…

Mario Hezonja. Arguably the worst player on a dreadful Knicks team, Hezonja was most recently seen getting a DNP-CD in a loss in a “battle” between perhaps the two worst teams in basketball (Knicks, Hawks). Hezonja, who has fewer dunks this season (8) than Giannis has had in individual games this season, will go down in NBA history as the person whose **** were put on warning by Giannis. Happy Holidays!

WOW!

Man listen, Giannis is a beast on the court and the Bucks are a good team, and these are not Giannis words in disrespecting the Knicks, but every man on the Knicks have to take this personal and send a message Christmas Day. Not looking for a brawl or anything but the Knicks have to come out with fire and passion on the court.

The Knicks may lose the game but you can’t get blown out, leaving the court with your head down. Time to not only stand-up for yourself but also the Knicks fans that pack MSG nightly. The Knicks will not make the playoffs, but here’s a chance to give real Knicks fans something to cheer for the rest of this season.

Kristaps Porzingis STILL Needs Carmelo Anthony….

Kristaps Porzingis STILL needs Carmelo Anthony

Yup, I said it, and have always believed it and Porzingis aka “The Unicorn” believes it as well.

“I think it would make life harder for me on the court (if Anthony was traded),” Porzingis told the Daily News. “He makes stuff easier for me.”

When KP and the Knicks defeated the NJ Nets Wednesday night, Knicks’ fans who have booed Melo at MSG finally saw their vision come true; KP leading the Knicks without Melo (on the bench for the 4th quarter).

As a Knicks fan I am always happy when the Knicks win, but we have to be realistic. KP is 0-8 when Melo doesn’t play, and I realize it’s a small sample size but still relevant. KP will be a very good and possibly a great player but he still has a lot to learn and prove in the NBA.

“There’s still a lot more things I want to learn from Melo,” Porzingis told The News. “So I would love to have him around for a long time. I always love playing with Melo.”

So Knicks fans, while I agree that it maybe time for Melo to be traded, at the same time we have to be careful of a couple of things. We can’t afford to get rid of Melo and get trash in return, and the organization needs a plan moving forward to develop KP and have an identity for the Knicks.

One last thing… Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but someday Knicks fans will miss Melo when he is gone!

WTF/WTH Wednesdays – Knicks do not match offer sheet for Jeremy Lin

Jeremy Lin

After an amazing 26 game stretch that was covered by both the national and international media; the era of Linsanity in NYC is officially over.

Even though Linsanity may be over in NYC, the debate  on whether the Knicks should have matched Houston’s offer for Lin is farrrrrr from over.  Knicks fans were torn between keeping Lin or letting him walk; for the record I was for letting him walk.  Don’t get me wrong, Lin did what was best financially for him.  In no way do I as a Knick fan begrudge him for getting the best deal possible but at the same time I agreed with most sports columnist and Carmelo Anthony

The contract Houston offered was “Ridiculous”.

Like every other Knicks’ fan I enjoyed Linsanity, it was one of the highlights of last season.  But during those 26 games there were also troubling signs, no defense, and turnovers.  The pace of Linsanity slowed and many will blame the return of Melo but at the same time the NBA was figuring out Lin.  Then there is also Lin electing not to play in the playoffs when he stated he was at 85%. The Knicks were desperate for point guard help after Shumpert and Baron Davis were injured, some would say if Lin wanted the Knicks to take a chance on by matching the $25 million dollar contract… May be he should have when he decided to sit out the playoffs.

As I stated earlier this is far from over, I would not be surprised if one of the major NYC papers run a weekly comparison of what Lin is doing versus what the Knicks are doing when the season starts.

Dear God I hope that doesn’t happen….

We may not know at this point if Lin will succeed in Houston or if the Knicks will be a winning team next season, but one this is for sure.  Lin’s 1st game back at the Garden will be an EVENT!!!

F-A-Natic Fridays – Doin’ the Landry

Landry Fields

HAHA, there is nothing better than NYC when you are winning.  This is especially true when it comes to the Knicks, New Yorkers love the their Knicks and we love players that work hard.

And in NY the admiration can come in many forms, fans giving you a standing ovation in Garden, Spike Lee wearing your jersey front row at home and away games during your rookie season,

Or…..

You can have a rap song made about you

Not bad MC Jin, pretty sure Landry Fields will think that is pretty cool.

Militant Mondays – LeBron James a “Runaway Slave”???

“His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality…”

“He sees LeBron as a runaway slave. This is an owner employee relationship — between business partners — and LeBron honored his contract.”

RunawaySLave

Jesse Jackson

I totally disagree with Jesse Jackson on this; how can you bring race in this matter? What we have here is an owner (Dan Gilbert) who is upset he lost his #1 cash cow in LeBron James. Was Dan Gilbert’s comments out of line; in my opinion yes! Calling LeBron James a coward is ridiculous; as an 18-year-old James came into the NBA with a tremendous amount of hype and the weight of a city on his shoulders. In his 7 years with the Cavs LeBron handled himself great maturity and never shamed the city of Cleveland or the Cavaliers. James was able to make the Cavs a top draw as they seemed to always be on TNT during the NBA season; so when did LeBron act like a coward??

Dan Gilbert spit so much fire at LeBron in his open letter that even Dylan was impressed, HAHA!!!

Seriously tho Dan Gilbert acted like Spencer Pratt after Heidi left him; instead of acting a professional he let his emotions get the best of him. In no way am I making any excuses for Gilbert, but for Jesse Jackson to say Gilbert sees LeBron as a “Runaway Slave” is a bit of a stretch. I don’t know if Jackson felt he had to defend LeBron’s decision to leave; James has received a lot of negative press since making his decision. From Cleveland to New York City fans are feeling betrayed by LeBron (still not sure why Knicks fans are so upset). Whatever the reasons are Jesse took a sensitive issue like racism (slavery) and interjected into a situation where we have a millionaire owner mad at a millionaire (new money) basketball player.

“Slavery” in this case is a hard sell;especially when you look at LeBron’s career in Cleveland. Since day one with the Cavs, LeBron has controlled that organization. Best believe that there was not a single player/personnel move made in Cleveland without it first being passed by King James. I don’t know many slaves that would receive treatment like that. The whole free agency process itself showed the control James and his team (Team LeBron) maintained. Jackson’s comparison to slavery is a slap in the face to those who really faced slavery.

Jesse Jackson SHOULD be looking into the Oscar Grant case if he wants to do something positive. LeBron doesn’t need “Messy Jesse” coming to his rescue, James has his situation in had. I mean who else would leave approximately $20-30 Million on the table to take less money?? Only someone who is in more control than we give him credit for…

No disrespect Jesse Jackson but do us all a favor and SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

Update 7/13/2010: Monday night David Stern addressed the media from Las Vegas and announced that the Cleveland Cavaliers will be fined $100K for owner Dan Gilbert’s comments concerning LeBron James leaving the Cavs for the Miami Heat. David Stern also stated he disagreed with Jesse Jackson’s statements about Gilbert looking at LeBron as a “Runaway Slave”
