Republicans hated Executive Orders (EO) when they were used by President Obama. During the Obama presidency, EOs were used 276 times, in response to Republicans in Congress trying to obstruct his every move.
With every EO signed by Obama, Republicans would accuse Obama of overreach.
“He’s not a king, he’s not a dictator, he’s not allowed to do it himself.” – The-New Jersey Governor Chris Christie
“Barack Obama is a king, not a president.” – Fox News
“He may think he’s king, he may declare he’s a king, but that’s not what he is under the Constitution… He has rewritten the Constitution for himself as a part of his effort to fundamentally transform the United States of America.” – Then-Representative Michele Bachmann
And last but not least…
Why is @BarackObama constantly issuing executive orders that are major power grabs of authority? This is the latest http://t.co/4IVBckTE
And now we have Pres Trump signing EOs like there is no tomorrow. His latest EOs to address much needed Coronavirus relief, may prove to be the biggest power grab of authority. Democrats in Congress and some Republicans have expressed their concern over this latest move by Trump. It remains to be seen if Dems will take Trump to court to prove the validity of his EOs.
Dems should take Trump to court and continue to work to get a deal done to extend Coronavirus relief. With every day that passes by Trump figures out a new way to ignore the Constitution.

Sunday’s episode of the ‘The Newsroom’ (I’ll Try to Fix You) was timely; in the episode Will McAvoy (Anchor) reports on the misinformation campaign against President Obama concerning his record on gun control. McAvoy runs clip after clip of Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, and Glenn Beck talking about how Barack Obama wants to take your guns and destroy the 2nd Amendment. The only problem is there is no evidence of such a campaign by President Obama, to show this McAvoy talks about the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence‘s report card on how Obama has performed in strengthen gun regulation.
*** This report card was based on Obama’s record after 1st year as president ***
Candidate Obama in 2008 was way tougher on gun control then President Obama; basically Obama has been a GREAT friend to the gun industry!
Information like this is not top-secret, you can easily Google this and find the facts. Or at least I thought so…. Before last night’s episode of ‘The Newsroom’ I just so happened to engage my colleagues at work in a debate concerning gun control. For the record these guys are smart guys who happen to love guns, and I respect the right for people to own a gun. But the conversation quickly went into a death spiral when one guy stated that, “Barack Obama wants to circumvent the 2nd Amendment and take away everyone’s guns…”
Ummmmmm…….
Of course I tried to correct him but he was adamant that; when I asked where he got this information from he said the head of the National Rifle Association aka NRA. GTFOH, so the organization that fights any attempt to regulate guns was his source?!?!?!?
Folks this is what we are dealing with today, I could understand if this was 1980… Before the internet, the 24 hour news cycle, and GOOGLE!!! But this is 2012, this is the INFORMATION AGE and we still have people who are just as ignorant as if it was the stone age. As usual my stubborn nature did not allow me to just walk away shaking my head, so I went into how the president has not introduced any legislation toughening gun control. I showed article after article supporting what I was saying…
Did it work??
Nope, instead of believing numerous sources this guy preferred to believe the opinion (with no facts to back up) of a few people aka NUTBAGS. So what do we do when people prefer to believe the non-factual rantings of nutbags?
I have no idea….
I am the type of person who relies on facts and it disturbs me when people ignore them; I will always stand by the facts but I have ask.
Have I been fooling myself in thinking that at the end of the day facts will always win out?

Tonight’s Republican Presidential Debate will include a lot of promises that these candidates will more than likely not be able to keep; you will have Mitt Romney talk about the bills he will pass the 1st day he is in the White House, Michele Bachmann might foolish promise returning the price of gas to $2 (YEAH RIGHT), and Rick Perry will…. Well who knows what he will promise, LOL!
Today Ezra Klein had a great article explaining that candidates promise a lot of policies during debates, but when it comes down to it they barely keep those promises. For example, President Obama‘s Affordable Care Act aka Obamacare is not what he promised during debates. Obama never mentioned an individual mandate during his campaign in 2008, but things changes when the reality of what can REALLY be done becomes evident. So keep that in mind when the candidates say things that sound GREAT; of course what you will NOT hear is how all of this can be done.
Especially Bachmann, if there was a way to bring gas prices back down to $2 a gallon don’t you think it would have already been done! I mean what’s really holding Bachmann back from releasing the details of how this can be done? If she was a good American she would share this info not so that we have cheaper gas tomorrow!!
Oh yeah, since this debate is happening at the Ronald Reagan Library you will definitely hear about the Great Ronald Reagan aka Mr Conservative.
You will hear how Reagan…
Reduced the size government
Cut taxes
The most popular president
Blah, blah, blah…..
But what you will not hear is what EVERY Conservative seems to forget about the Great Reagan. Here is a list of what Reagan actually did while he was president, this is a subset of a longer list Think Progress put together; 10 Things Conservatives Don’t Want You To Know About Ronald Reagan
Reagan raised taxes
Reagan nearly tripled the federal deficit
Unemployment rose after Reagan’s 1981 tax cuts
Reagan grew the size of government
Reagan gave amnesty to 3 million undocumented immigrants
Say what???? Ronald Reagan raised taxes????
Yessir, so while you watch the debate (and you really should watch) just remember it’s never as easy as they say it is and there is always more to the story. This is a lesson that we should have all learned over the past 3 years as we have witnessed President Obama have problems keeping promises he talked about during debates in 2008.
Also check out PolitiFact to fact-check what the candidates talk about during the debate; http://www.politifact.com/. They do a great job verifying what both Democrats and Republicans like to spit as so-called facts!

It takes a special person to have Bill O’Reilly REALLY challenge a fellow Conservative, and Michele Bachmann is that special person.
Bachmann is a polarizing enough personality that she is not only exciting to the Republican Party with her run for President but she is also scaring the Republican Party. Conservatives are looking for someone who will stand up to President Obama in 2012 and the field is not the most encouraging group; Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Herman Cain, Ron Paul, John Huntsman, and maybe Rick Perry (still undecided)?
With a cast of characters like that I can see how Bachmann can be an attractive candidate, but the same thing that makes her attractive also makes her a nightmare…
In the debate concerning raising the debt ceiling Bachmann has taken the position of being the “Champion” for so-called fiscal responsibility, and in true NUTBAG style she doesn’t understand the complexity of the issue. Her lack of understanding is putting the United States and the global economy in danger. And she could not care less…
Even Bill O’Reilly can see that Bachmann is insane and this was visible during an interview O’Reilly conducted with Bachmann. If this was Bill O’Reilly interviewing someone like Anthony Weiner or Bernie Sanders this could have been ugly, but O’Reilly was some what tame out of respect for the presidential candidate.
Everyone can see the dangers except Michele Bachmann; when Bill O’Reilly is the voice of reason you know there is something severely wrong with the person he is interviewing. With someone like Bachmann running for president the White House has to have their fingers cross that Michele Bachmann will be the Republican nominee.

It is now becoming a daily occurrence for President Obama to make a statement of the dangerous game Republicans are playing with our economy if they do not vote to raise the debt ceiling. At this point I think we have heard ALL of the different ways to describe what will happen if the debt ceiling is not raised and the most commonly used word….. Catastrophic, might be the most over-used word in the English language right now.
But….
As the August 2nd deadline to raise the debt ceiling approaches Secretary of Treasury Timothy Geithner, Chairman of the Federal Reserve Ben Bernake, Moody’s and S&P have all stated the blow a failure of raising the debt ceiling will cause to our growing but still fragile economy.
Standard & Poor’s has warned lawmakers privately that it would downgrade the country’s debt if the Treasury Department is forced to prioritize payments because Congress does not raise the debt limit – S&P
“A default on Treasury debt could lead to concerns about the solvency of the investment funds and financial institutions that hold Treasury securities in their portfolios, which could cause a run on money market mutual funds and the broader financial system — similar to what happened in the wake of the collapse of Lehman Brothers. As the recent financial crisis demonstrated, a severe and sudden blow to confidence in the financial markets can spark a panic that threatens the health of our entire global economy and the jobs of millions of Americans.” – Sec. of Treasury Tim Geithner
“Would likely push us into a double dip recession.”– Sec. of Treasury Tim Geithner
“It’s not something you want to play around with — the United States would be forced into a position of defaulting on its debt… And the implications of that for our financial system, for our fiscal policy, for our economy would be catastrophic.”– Fed Chairman Ben Bernake
And even with all the warnings House and Senate Republicans continue to talk about NOT raising the debt ceiling. Stop me if you have this before, NUTBAGS like Michele Bachmann and Sara Palin continue to tweet and go on talk shows talking about Geithner has it all wrong and that Republicans should “Reload” and not “Retreat” when it comes to voting against raising the debt ceiling.
So if Republicans and their nutbag friends refuse to listen to the Tim Geithner’s of the world, who could possibly convince them of the dangers of not raising the debt ceiling????
How about Ronald Reagan aka Mr. Conservative…..
Here is the text of what Reagan was saying in this address about the debt ceiling:
Congress consistently brings the Government to the edge of default before facing its responsibility. This brinkmanship threatens the holders of government bonds and those who rely on Social Security and veterans benefits. Interest rates would skyrocket, instability would occur in financial markets, and the Federal deficit would soar. The United States has a special responsibility to itself and the world to meet its obligations. It means we have a well-earned reputation for reliability and credibility – two things that set us apart from much of the world.
This was a speech Reagan gave back in 1987, but the message still resonates 24 years later!
What Pres Obama has been saying all along about the debt ceiling mirrors what Reagan said back then; if Republicans don’t want to believe a Liberal like Obama maybe they will listen to their Conservative hero Ronald Regan

I want to laugh so hard when I hear nutbags like Michele Bachmann attempt to reinvent history; it’s as if Bachmann watched the movie ‘The Invention of Lying’ and decided if she lies enough it will become truth. When the Tea Party selected Bachmann to deliver their response to the State Of The Union they made a dangerous selection of an uninformed nutbag. Her “Balloon Head Thinking” will set this country back, we have to continue to call Bachmann and her nutbag ways.
Thank you Chris Matthews for CLEARLY pointing out how ridiculous this woman is and the insanity of the Tea Party to select Bachmann as their spokeswoman. It’s shameful that Sal Russo or anyone would defend this woman and her “Balloon Head Thinking”. The Tea Party should just focus on the platform of cutting spending and stay away from nutbags like Bachmann and Palin. When you hear the crazy talk from the likes Bachmann you can only wonder….
With House Democrats voting to oppose Obama’s Tax Cuts Compromise this is the time for Democrats in Congress to show they have some backbone. Just because Obama is president and he is a Democrat that doesn’t mean that Congressional Democrats have to follow his lead on every issue. In this case it is a good time for Democrats to stand up; the people spoke loudly during the mid-term elections with their vote. The change in Washington they hoped and wanted was for Obama not to be the typical politician. This Tax Cuts Compromise has typical Washington Politics written all over it; so I was very pleased to hear about the House Democrats standing up and at least asking for more debate.
What was also encouraging was that Republicans like Michele ‘Nutbag’ Bachmann was even asking questions about this compromise; LOL, I know how crazy it sounds but I just kind of sorta gave Bachmann some credit. Don’t get me wrong Bachmann is still and will always be a ‘Nutbag’ but I can’t disagree her when it comes to spending in general (Just for the record I still disagree with her on what should be cut spending wise). The next couple of days as we will see if more Democrats and Republicans will stand up and oppose this compromise. It will all depend on public opinion, these kats will go where the poll number go on this issue.
I predict that more Democrats will side with the likes of Peter Welch, Anthony Weiner, and Bernie Sanders and force the president to revisit his compromise. What will be the end result of more debate is still to be determined, I can only hope we see the Barack Obama in this video clip…
In the mean time let us hope that more Democrats will rally behind Bernie Sanders and do whatever it takes to stop this flawed compromise…

On June 21st I wrote about the stalemate between the Republican and Democrats concerning the extension of Unemployment Benefits and adding potentially $33 billion to the National Debt; Militant Mondays – What Happened to PAYGO. My concerned back then was the spending ways of this government; and that eventually we as a nation have to pay attention to how we spend money. Even though adding $33 Billion is relatively a small amount compared to other government spending, I felt that Congress had to make sure they exhausted all viable possibilities in paying for this extension. I felt that the gov’t should follow the PAYGO rules that the Democrats championed.
Since then my stance has slightly changed as more information concerning how PAYGO works, past history and the alternatives being offered by Republicans.
PAYGO – Is the practice of financing expenditures with funds that are currently available rather than borrowed. In the case of paying for the extension of Unemployment Benefits this is considered “Emergency Spending” and PAYGO rules do not apply.
Past History – Since 1950 we have extended Unemployment Benefits in every Recession except one.
Republican Alternatives – Use TARP (Troubled Asset Relief Program) money to help fund the $33 Billion needed for Unemployment Benefits. Under current law TARP funds can only be used to pay against the National Debt; there would have to be a change in the law. Also keep in mind when it was suggested earlier this year to use TARP money to fund a jobs bill; Republicans immediately shot that idea down without hesitation noting that TARP money should only be used to pay down the debt. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1209/30216.html
Deficit hawks have also stated that not extending Unemployment Benefits could cause more harm to the economy as the money spent on Unemployment Benefits as that money would be used by the unemployed and put back into the economy immediately.
All of the above factors helped change my mind; initially I felt that sooner or later we will have to make tough decisions in order to put this country in the right direction. I don’t care if good ideas are from Republicans or Democrats; I just care about GOOD IDEAS! With that said I can tell you without a doubt that Representative Mike Pence (R-Ind) thoughts on how we should treat Unemployment Benefits is NOT a good idea. Recently Mike Pence was asked by Fox’s Wallace about the Republicans’ argument that the unemployment benefits be “paid for” — but why not also“pay for” a reauthorization of the tax cuts, which will cost $678 billion?
Pence responded:
“The point is we’ve got to get this economy moving again and we can’t go back to the tax-and-spend policies of the Democrats or the tax-cut-and-spend policies of the prior administration.”
Many economist agree that Bush’s tax cut during his administration did not generate the economic growth they expected; so when you look at which could possibly have a worse impact on our National Debt. I’m pretty sure helping the rich and adding $678 Billion to the debt can cause a tad more harm than adding $33 Billion to the debt and helping relieve the struggles of 2.5 Million people without unemployment.
It boggles the mind how Republicans can say with a straight face that we should “pay for” extending unemployment benefits but hey it’s cool that wealthy Americans should get a tax break that doesn’t have to be paid.
Maybe it’s me, Michelle Bachmann can you help me to better understand this concept?
Correction Michelle Bachmann, Congress did cut budgets so that the majority of the extension of unemployment benefits will be paid for. Also as I stated earlier the exception to PAYGO is emergency spending. Extending unemployment benefits has always been considered emergency spending.
Bachmann stated she wanted President Obama to “Cut the dramatic government spending…”; Which seems to be more dramatic $33 Billion or $678 Billion?
Update 7/20/2010:
With a 60-40 vote, the Republican filibuster was ended; setting up a potential final vote on the measure later Tuesday. The legislation would then have to return to the House for approval.
The roughly $33 billion cost of the plan will be paid for by new borrowing.
Democrats were able to reach the crucial 60-vote supermajority to overcome Republican filibuster only after Sen. Carte Goodwin (D., W.V.) was sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden a few minutes before the vote. Mr. Goodwin succeeds Sen. Robert Byrd (D., W.V.), who died in June.
Update 7/22/2010:
Mark Knoller reports that House votes final passage to unemployment benefits 272 to 152. President Obama will sign as soon as bill reaches White House.

Over the past week we have seen that the NAACP has voted on a declaration asking the Tea Party to denounce the racism that seems to follow their events across the United States. In that declaration the NAACP respected the right of the existence of the Tea party and their core values (fiscal responsibility, and small government). In my opinion the NAACP went out of their way to ensure that they were not saying all Tea Party members are racist but to point out that for the past year there is enough evidence to show there is a disturbing presence at Tea Party rallies.
In response to the NAACP Tea Party backers like Sarah Palin decided to only focus on the idea that Tea Party members are good Americans; Palin and the rest of the Tea party backers time and time again fail to acknowledge what is clearly evident; and now we have the “open letter” from Mark Williams (Tea Party organizer)…
Dear Mr. Lincoln
We Coloreds have taken a vote and decided that we don’t cotton to that whole emancipation thing. Freedom means having to work for real think for ourselves, and take consequences along with the rewards. That is just far too much to ask of us Colored People and we demand that it stop!
In fact we held a big meeting and took a vote in Kansas City this week. We voted to condemn a political revival of that old abolitionist spirit called the ‘tea party movement’.
The tea party position to “end the bailouts” for example is just silly. Bailouts are just big money welfare and isn’t that what we want all Coloreds to strive for? What kind of racist would want to end big money welfare? What they need to do is start handing the bail outs directly to us coloreds! Of course, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is the only responsible party that should be granted the right to disperse the funds.
And the ridiculous idea of “reduce[ing] the size and intrusiveness of government.” What kind of massa would ever not want to control my life? As Coloreds we must have somebody care for us otherwise we would be on our own, have to think for ourselves and make decisions!
The racist tea parties also demand that the government “stop the out of control spending.” Again, they directly target coloreds. That means we Coloreds would have to compete for jobs like everybody else and that is just not right.
Perhaps the most racist point of all in the tea parties is their demand that government “stop raising our taxes.” That is outrageous! How will we coloreds ever get a wide screen TV in every room if non-coloreds get to keep what they earn? Totally racist! The tea party expects coloreds to be productive members of society?
Mr. Lincoln, you were the greatest racist ever. We had a great gig. Three squares, room and board, all our decisions made by the massa in the house. Please repeal the 13th and 14th Amendments and let us get back to where we belong.
Sincerely
Precious Ben Jealous, Tom’s Nephew NAACP Head Colored Person
Mark Williams attempt at comedy is in poor taste and is inappropriate for someone who is suppose to be a major organizer for a group trying to legitimize themselves. Recently Michele Bachmann spoke about her vision of the Tea Party having a caucus in congress that would represent Tea Party interest; you can’t talk about that until you address the deficiencies in that party.
So why does the Tea Party stand-by and say nothing?
In my opinion the Tea Party refuses to call out the racist in their party because they are fearful of alienating any supporters. As a young group their strength is in the number of supporters, if they call out the racist they worry about diminishing their numbers.
It’s time for Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, Rand Paul, and Sharron Angle to step up and be real leaders and demand the racism stop. Or else your silence speaks volumes of your overall views!

Rudy Giuliani, Sarah Palin and the rest of the punk ass Conservatives please do your home work before speaking on topics you really have no clue about. As I stated in my posting WTF/WTH Wednesday – Disarmament; Republicans have started their attacks against President Obama since he released his plans for reducing Nuclear weapons along with reducing the threat of Nuclear weapons. At one rally the “Nutbag Twins” aka Bachmann and Palin took their shots at the President; they showed their true ignorance as they obviously did not take the time to read the strategy. Palin made the following comparison:
“It’s unbelievable. Unbelievable. No administration in America’s history would, I think, ever have considered such a step that we just found out President Obama is supporting today. It’s kinda like getting out there on a playground, a bunch of kids, getting ready to fight, and one of the kids saying, “Go ahead, punch me in the face and I’m not going to retaliate. Go ahead and do what you want to with me.”
WOW, Sarah Palin really just pulled that out of her ass! The following is the proposed strategy from the President:
Non-nuclear states that abide by the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty would not be threatened with nuclear retaliation by the United States — even if they conducted conventional, biological or cyber attacks. But, he added, “If you’re not going to play by the rules, if you’re going to be a proliferator, then all options are on the table in terms of how we deal with you.”
Hmmmm, seems pretty clear to me! If you’re a non-nuclear state that abides by the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty you will not be threatened with nuclear retaliation. Just because the U.S. will not use nuclear weapons to retaliate doesn’t mean we will not bomb the shit out you using conventional weapons! Palin really does not understand how a Nuclear Weapon should be used, it’s as if she wants to use nuclear at the drop of dime. I need the “Nutbag Twins” to fall back, they are too dangerous!
Then we have Rudy Giuliani former Mayer of NYC, here is another guy that needs to do his homework. I seem to recall Giuliani calling upon the great days of Ronald Reagan and his Conservative ways during his Presidential Campaign. I wonder if Giuliani ever studied Reagan and his policies? He seems to be very ignorant to what one of the great Conservatives all-time felt about Nuclear weapons. Giuliani made the following statements concerning President Obama’s strategy:
Mr. Obama’s new policy is the work of an “inept” leader with a “left-wing dream,”
“A nuclear-free world has been a 60-year dream of the Left…”
Giuliani calling a nuclear-free world “a 60-year old dream of the Left…” is very interesting. Here is a little video of former President Ronald Reagan talking about Nuclear weapons and its place:
According to Giuliani, Reagan is a dreamer from the Left! LMAO, Ronald Reagan is the gold standard by which all Conservatives measure themselves against. Shame on you Rudy…..
Reagan stated about reducing nuclear weapons, “Search for ways to reduce the danger of nuclear war…..” and then he followed by saying, “There will be risks and results will take time….”.
How is it that the likes of Giuliani, Palin and Bachmann can’t seem to understand Reagan’s vision of reducing the danger of nuclear war?
One of the more powerful statements by Reagan in that speech was the following, “We seek neither military superiority nor political advantage….”. Conservatives like Giuliani, Palin, and Bachmann need to re-evaluate their ideology and better understand what this world is really about and how precious life is!
