WTF/WTH Wednesdays – Coolout Anthony Weiner….

I was a huge supporter/fan of Anthony Weiner before his setting scandal, and even then I was willing to give him a fresh start with his bid to become the next mayor of New York City. I mean we all make mistakes, so I was open to hear what he had to say and what his platform would be about.

And then more sexting nonsense was discovered, at that point I was done and so should have Weiner’s campaign. Instead he decided to continue to stay in the race and not be forced out.

If Weiner believes he still has a shot, I hope yelling at voters is not part of a strategy he believes is a winner…

Smh, the funny thing is that it was his fiery, confrontational style that made Weiner cool with many Democrats/Progressives.

Except, back then he was yelling at Republican congressmen and not potential voters.

Militant Mondays – F@*K Donald Trump!!!

So The Donald is thinking about running for President in 2012; well I say F*@K The Donald!!

I could care less about that overrated pompous asshole and his bid for the Presidency; I hope he runs so that he can embarrass himself on the big stage.  Unlike many in our society I have no love for Donald Trump and his business ways.  I think the idea of him being capable of  getting this country through tough economics times is a bunch of BS; yes Trump has been successful but he has also been a failure…

  • Ran the USFL into ground
  • Filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1989
  • Trump Hotels files for Chapter 11 protection in 2004
  • Filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2009
  • Deutsche Bank in 2008 noted in court that ‘Trump is no stranger to overdue debt’

There is no silver bullet in resolving this nations economic problems; anyone who talks about quick solutions is full of it and right that is all I am hearing from Trump.  He loves to talk about the Chinese and knowing how they operate; I guess a lot of that knowledge was gained while Trump had to sell many of his assets to Asian Developers.

With that said, Trump’s failures in business is not why I hate him…

My hatred for Trump goes back to 1989…  Back then times were rough in NYC, crime was a major problem and race relations in the city were tense and was heading for a major firestorm!

On April 19th 1989 Trisha Meili was brutally raped and beaten while jogging in Central Park; the city was outraged at the crime and the lack of safety in the city at that time.  Even as a kid I remember how intense the environment was.  Every where you turned there was mention about this case, back then Trisha name was never revealed as she was simply known as the Central Park Jogger; but the alleged attackers were  named and vilified as Savages!!!

I remember so many conversations between dad and his friends talking about how the case was BS and that the kids scared into confessing in the crime.  With all these questions in the air and no real evidence apparent (except that the kids were Black and Latino) people began calling for the Death Penalty… and guess who was the biggest fan for the death penalty back then?

The Donald!!!!

That’s right, old comb over himself took out full-page ads in the major New York City newspapers advocating the reinstatement of the death penalty.

Without having any evidence Trump recklessly incited more hate in the city at a time when cooler heads needed to prevail.  Forced confessions and violation of rights led to the conviction of five suspects;

All five were convicted in 1990. Four of the juveniles charged — Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Raymond Santana, and Kharey Wise — officially confessed to the crime, and each implicated the others. A fifth suspect, Yusef Salaam, made verbal admissions, but refused to sign a confession or make one on videotape.  – New York Newsday

After spending years in jail and then having to register as sex offenders upon release the five were exonerated as a confession from Matias Reyes along with DNA evidence vacated their convictions.  Unfortunately for the five they can never regain their youth.

And then there is The Donald; you would think he would apologize for his role back in 1989.

In his usual pompous style Donald Trump has avoided the situation and has never publicly apologized to the five young men; and yet we allow rump to get away with this.

What if Trump was successful in his campaign to reinstate the death penalty?

His behavior during that time is just as appalling as Al Sharpton’s involvement in the Tawana Brawley case and Jesse Jackson’s “Hymietown” comment.  Except that we never hear about his dumbass behavior; in no way am I trying to defend Jesse or Al but just about EVERY time they show their face on the scene some Conservative bonehead has to mention those mishaps.  Meanwhile The Donald is remembered for his ridiculous hair and Celebrity Apprentice.

Well I will NEVER forget as I am sure those 5 young boys who grew up in jail will never forget!!!

Anthony Weiner getting his Cory Booker on….

They say “Imitation is the Best Form of Flattery”

During the “Snowpocalypse of 2010” the 5 Boroughs of NYC struggled to dig itself out of the 20 or so inches of snow.  Many New Yorkers let it be know that they were not happy and Mayor Bloomberg was heavily criticized for the lack of response.  Snow plows were nowhere to be found on the streets during or hours after the blizzard had passed.

While New Yorkers took out their frustration with the Mayor and snow on Twitter; Cory Booker the Mayor of Newark (New Jersey) took to the streets with his a shovel in one hand and his Twitter feed in the other.

While Mayor Bloomberg struggled to control the perception of how he and his administration was handling snow removal, Cory Booker used the power of Twitter to stay connected with his constituents.  Through twitter Booker asked the people of Newark to let him know where there were snow issues.  Tweet after tweet Booker responded to those in need asking them where they were located and letting them know help was on the way.  In one instance someone tweeted that they needed diapers and Booker hand deliver the diapers himself.

Needless to say Booker received praise locally and nationally for his work; while Bloomberg is still being criticized from every angle.

So with a new snow storm hitting the NYC area, it looks like others are following the example of Cory Booker.

Anthony Weiner

Just this afternoon Representative Anthony Weiner (D-NY) tweeted…

“Not to go all Cory Booker on you or anything, but I’m inviting Bk/Q residents to file snow removal beefs here.”

I applaud Weiner for his efforts and I hope it works for him; it will be interesting to read the complaints he will receive.  There will be legitimate complaints but I guarantee that his account will be smashed with nonsense; I am sure it will be entertaining.

But in all seriousness I hope people utilize the services Weiner is providing, this is government working for you at your finger tips.

With that said I hope this time around I see some toughness out New Yorkers, the amount of whining I heard and read about was out of control and I expect better from NYC.  As a New Yorker we pride ourselves on our toughness, in all honesty I didn’t see that toughness.  Growing up in Queens it was no shock when it snowed that Queens was the last borough plowed.  On my block neighbors helped each other; we cleared the sidewalks for the older folks on the block and we all chipped in to dig each others cars out.  I was embarrassed by some of the b*#ching I heard… I know the city’s response was unsatisfactory but MAN UP!!

Militant Mondays – LeBron James a “Runaway Slave”???

“His feelings of betrayal personify a slave master mentality…”

“He sees LeBron as a runaway slave. This is an owner employee relationship — between business partners — and LeBron honored his contract.”

Jesse Jackson

I totally disagree with Jesse Jackson on this; how can you bring race in this matter? What we have here is an owner (Dan Gilbert) who is upset he lost his #1 cash cow in LeBron James. Was Dan Gilbert’s comments out of line; in my opinion yes! Calling LeBron James a coward is ridiculous; as an 18-year-old James came into the NBA with a tremendous amount of hype and the weight of a city on his shoulders. In his 7 years with the Cavs LeBron handled himself great maturity and never shamed the city of Cleveland or the Cavaliers. James was able to make the Cavs a top draw as they seemed to always be on TNT during the NBA season; so when did LeBron act like a coward??

Dan Gilbert spit so much fire at LeBron in his open letter that even Dylan was impressed, HAHA!!!

Seriously tho Dan Gilbert acted like Spencer Pratt after Heidi left him; instead of acting a professional he let his emotions get the best of him. In no way am I making any excuses for Gilbert, but for Jesse Jackson to say Gilbert sees LeBron as a “Runaway Slave” is a bit of a stretch. I don’t know if Jackson felt he had to defend LeBron’s decision to leave; James has received a lot of negative press since making his decision. From Cleveland to New York City fans are feeling betrayed by LeBron (still not sure why Knicks fans are so upset). Whatever the reasons are Jesse took a sensitive issue like racism (slavery) and interjected into a situation where we have a millionaire owner mad at a millionaire (new money) basketball player.

“Slavery” in this case is a hard sell;especially when you look at LeBron’s career in Cleveland. Since day one with the Cavs, LeBron has controlled that organization. Best believe that there was not a single player/personnel move made in Cleveland without it first being passed by King James. I don’t know many slaves that would receive treatment like that. The whole free agency process itself showed the control James and his team (Team LeBron) maintained. Jackson’s comparison to slavery is a slap in the face to those who really faced slavery.

Jesse Jackson SHOULD be looking into the Oscar Grant case if he wants to do something positive. LeBron doesn’t need “Messy Jesse” coming to his rescue, James has his situation in had. I mean who else would leave approximately $20-30 Million on the table to take less money?? Only someone who is in more control than we give him credit for…

No disrespect Jesse Jackson but do us all a favor and SHUT THE HELL UP!!!

Update 7/13/2010: Monday night David Stern addressed the media from Las Vegas and announced that the Cleveland Cavaliers will be fined $100K for owner Dan Gilbert’s comments concerning LeBron James leaving the Cavs for the Miami Heat. David Stern also stated he disagreed with Jesse Jackson’s statements about Gilbert looking at LeBron as a “Runaway Slave”
