Legally Married Same-Sex Couples Can file taxes as Married Couple

Treasury Department and IRS announced that legally married same-sex couples can file their taxes in the same fashion as heterosexual married couples. Even if the couple lives in a state that does not recognize same-sex marriage they can file as a married couple as long as they have been married in a state that does.

Yes same-sex married folks, you now have to deal with your partner knowing how much you REALLY make. No complaining now, you wanted married life and now you got it… HAHA!!

Just kidding, this is great for equality. My religious beliefs may disagree with same-sex marriage but those are my beliefs (which I disagree with) and not something I believe EVERYONE else has to follow or else they will burn in hell.

I wonder if Rush Limbaugh and the rest of the GOP will accuse the IRS of targeting same-sex married couples in order to verify they are filing correctly????

WTF/WTH Wednesdays – Who’s afraid of Big Bad Rush? Romney is…

What does it say about the college co-ed Sandra Fluke, who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex, what does that make her? It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex. She’s having so much sex she can’t afford the contraception. She wants you and me and the taxpayers to pay her to have sex. What does that make us? We’re the pimps…. The johns? We would be the johns? No! We’re not the johns…Yeah, that’s right. Pimp’s not the right word. Okay, so she’s not a slut. She’s “round heeled.”

Folks, do you realize that you can get, in Washington, DC…? If you ask the Department of Health there, they will send you free condoms! They will send you free condoms. You don’t have to get Nancy Pelosi and ask for thousands of dollars in free birth control pills, and they’ll even throw in the lube! So, if we’re gonna sit here, and if we’re gonna have a part in this, then we want something in return, Ms. Fluke: And that would be the videos of all this sex posted online so we can see what we are getting for our money…. – Rush Limbaugh

The idea that there is a witch hunt for Rush Limbaugh after his relentless attack of Sandra Fluke is absurd. For 3 days on his radio show he went after Sandra Fluke

Limbaugh’s attack was disgusting and vile! If there was a witch hunt it was Limbaugh going after Fluke. Let’s remember folks, Limbaugh didn’t just crack silly joke. He referred to Fluke as a “prostitute” and suggested if she wants taxpayers to pay for her contraception then she should make sex tapes for the taxpayers.

WTH…

For far too long Rush has gotten away with this behavior; it looks like it may have finally caught up to him.  Over the last couple of days Rush has lost sponsors for his radio show and now those on the right want to cry foul.  Instead of doing the right thing and denouncing Rush’s statements Conservative pundits are trying to defend Rush by saying the left is on a “witch hunt” for Limbaugh.  I can’t lie I have heard and read Liberal/Progressive pundits say some hateful things and I have managed to call those folks out (via twitter).

Unfortunately the GOP front-runner is to chicken shit to step up and call out Rush for his hideous comments.  Mitt Romney talks about standing up to Iran, but he can’t even stand up to Rush and his dittoheads…. WTF!!!

If Romney wants to show leadership, he should start by standing up to his own party.  Last night Mitt talked about President Obama being too worried about saving his job to do anything bold.  Well Mitt’s silence on Rush is a clear sign he is too scared/worried about winning the nomination to step up show the “leadership” he likes to talk about in his stump speeches.

F-A-Natic Fridays – Rep Cohens compares GOP to Nazis, WTH!

So it didn’t take long before a dumbass Democrat made himself and the party look like hypocrites.  Representative Steve Cohen from Tennessee referred to the Republicans “lies” concerning Health Care Reform aka Affordable Care Act as Nazi propaganda; the type of propaganda that led to the Holocaust.

WTH is wrong with this guy?

With all the talk of civility what sense does it make to compare Republicans to the Nazis?  As Democrats we cannot stand on a soap box and call out Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh and Sarah Palin for their recklessness… and then turn around and act just as reckless!

SMH……

They say it’s a government takeover of health care, a big lie just like Goebbels. . . . You say it enough, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie, you repeat the lie and eventually, people believe it. Like blood libel. That’s the same kind of thing. . . . The Germans said enough about the Jews and the people believed it and you had the Holocaust. You tell a lie over and over again. And we’ve heard on this floor, government takeover of health care

This is the kind of nonsense Democrats need to stay away, stick with the facts and outlandish examples like this is unnecessary.  I hope Democrats leaders come out and condemn the words of Cohen; actually they better if they want the American people to take them seriously.

And Cohen definitely needs to apologizes as well….

WTF/WTH Wednesdays – Is Michael Steele crazy or going rogue??

Photobucket

Is this man crazy or has he gone rogue?

Recently RNC (Republican National Committee) Chairman Michael Steele made comments not normally made by Republicans concerning war; his comments about the War in Afghanistan have once again put him in the spotlight:

“Keep in mind again, federal candidates, this was a war of Obama’s choosing. This is not something the United States had actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in…”

“If he’s such a student of history, has he not understood that you know that’s the one thing you don’t do, is engage in a land war in Afghanistan? All right, because everyone who has tried, over a thousand years of history, has failed. And there are reasons for that.”

Immediately Democrats quickly pointed out that Steele was incorrect in stating, “This is not something the United States had actively prosecuted or wanted to engage in…” Mr. Steele seems to forget that the War in Afghanistan was started by President Bush with the backing of Congress. I will agree with Democrats that Steele wrongly stated that the war was not wanted by the American people before President Obama took office, but I will say that once President Obama made the decision to send more troops to Afghanistan it became his war. He can no longer use former President Bush as an excuse as to why we are in Afghanistan. As for his comments about the history of the region, there is something to be said about what history has proven. Afghanistan is a stubborn territory that has seen it’s fair share of battles.

Then Republicans (except Ron Paul) quickly ran away from Steele as they know they fully supported the troop increase in Afghanistan. No way could they stand by anyone who doesn’t support war. So how can the RNC Chairman go against his party? The same party that loves to preach finishing the job and that Americans don’t cut and run. Simple, he must be crazy! That’s the easy explanation, just write it off as another moment where Steele spoke without thinking. Here is a crazy thought…

I think Steele has a point.

The War in Afghanistan amongst many Americans is unpopular; with exploding debt people look at the Afghanistan War as a waste of money. According to some experts there are less than 100 Al Qaeda in Afghanistan, compared to the number of American troops in Afghanistan it just doesn’t seem like we are getting our moneys worth. This is the point Steele was trying to get to across; we continue to throw money at Afghanistan with no tangible results. How much longer can we continue to do this?

So I will give Michael Steele credit for speaking his mind, but as soon as I give him props he manages to find a way to clown himself. Steele quickly released a statement basically back-tracking from his original statement. He felt the pressure from the Republicans and he fell back in line with the rest of the pack.

So is Michael Steele crazy or his going rogue??

No, he is just a punk ass bitch!!

This is the same guy that touted himself as being from the streets of D.C., WTF! Time and time again Steele has backed down; earlier this year he challenged Rush Limbaugh’s authority during an interview when he announced that he was the leader of the Republican Party. Like now Steele backed off those comments as Rush and his ditto-heads went after him. At this point Steele has tripped over his own feet so much he might as well go out in a blaze of glory and be his own man. It’s not like he will be back as head of the RNC, HAHA!!

Talking Points Tuesdays – Drill Baby, Drill??????

Photobucket

Initially when President Obama proposed the idea of lifting the moratorium on oil exploration along the East Coast of the United States, the eastern Gulf of Mexico and the northern coast of Alaska; I wasn’t fond of the idea as I felt the President was only trying to win Republican support for his Climate Bill. I then listened to the President’s March 31st speech explaining why he lifted the moratorium; he stated that in order for the United States to prepare for oil independence from foreign oil we had to increase domestic production. This increase in domestic production will lower oil prices as well buy us time as we move in the direction of complete oil independence (electric cars). I have to admit it sounded like a great idea, that was until the BP Oil Rig accident.

It’s not necessarily the accident that changed my mind; in saying that I’m not trying to minimize the terrible environmental impact from the oil spill. What I am saying is that when looking at the track record for Oil Rigs in the U.S. I would say that the likelihood of a major accident did not seem very (I realize that recent information released showed issues with protective measures that did not work. None of those points were mentioned when the President mentioned his plan). My change of heart is more based on the idea that increasing domestic oil production would lower the cost of oil. This is a false assumption that many experts have discussed; this is just not true. The amount of oil that we would be able to produce domestically will not have a significant effect on pricing globally.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration did a study back in 2007; if drilling exploration started by 2012 along the East Coast and eastern Gulf of Mexico it “would not have a significant impact on domestic crude oil and natural gas production or prices before 2030”.

There is also the misconception that oil drilled and produced domestically would belong to the United States for our use; this is simply untrue. That oil would be sold on the global market, we would basically produce the oil and then bid on that oil just like anyone else in the world.

With all that said, Pres Obama will have to remind me again WHY lift the moratorium on domestic offshore drilling? By lifting the moratorium Pres Obama gained the grand total of 1 Republican vote for his gesture. The Climate Bill is necessary, but Democrats (along with Obama) can’t be consumed with the notion of gaining Republican support. This is an issue that majority of the public supports; so treat just like Wall Street Reform. If Republicans don’t want to support the Climate Bill, so be it! It will be another chip for Democrats to use against them in the November Elections.

I will give the President credit for slowing down the process of offshore drilling since the BP Oil Rig accident. They will not move forward with the President’s plan until it is determined what happened in the BP accident. They will also look at the so-called safety measures that failed in preventing this catastrophe.

With all that said, as the oil continues to gush from that open valve; Pres Obama may have to scrap his plan all together. The lasting effects of this accident will be felt for a long time!!!

By the way where are all the “Drill Baby, Drill….” folks at now? Palin, Steele, Rush; where are you guys??? Well Rush Limbaugh weighed in on what he felt REALLY happened in this “accident”!

I think Rush is on that Oxycontin again!!!!

Militant Mondays – Textbook Wars…

For years Conservatives have complained that schools of Higher Learning were dominated by Liberal professors who poisoned the young minds of Americans with thoughts of America being bad and how Capitalism was a terrible economic and social system. Maybe I missed something but college was not a breeding ground for Liberal development. College provided an opportunity of “Higher Thought” and helped developed various views of intellectual thinking. On 2nd thought; intellectual though…. That sounds like something a Democrat would embrace while Conservatives like Sarah Palin dislike. At the Tea Party Nation Convention Sarah Palin made that perfectly clear when she stated, “We (United States) needed a Commander-In-Chief NOT a Professor of Law…” I guess that makes all the sense in the world, because intellects think too much; hmmmm….

So now we have our current political environment where Republicans feel as if they must save the country from Liberals aka Socialist and their terrible thoughts and ideas. The Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) which consists of a 10 Republicans and 5 Democrats have proposed what they (Republicans) would deem as minor changes to the type of language used in textbooks purchased by the state of Texas. The changes proposed and approved on March 12th are as follows:

Additions by SBOE include:

– The conservative resurgence of the 1980s and 1990s, including Phyllis Schlafly, the Contract With America, the Heritage Foundation, the Moral Majority and the National Rifle Association.

– Replacing the word “capitalism” with the term “free-enterprise system” because of concerns that “capitalism” had become more of a negative connotation

– The study of American Exceptionalism

– The inclusion of the study or increased focus on leaders from the Confederacy, including a side by side comparison of Jefferson Davis’s inaugural speech with Abraham Lincoln’s speech

The following SBOE chose to remove, not include or not make mandatory several other provisions such as:

– Removing Thomas Jefferson from a list of writers who inspired the revolutions of the
late 18th and 19th Century and replacing him with St. Thomas of Aquinas, John Calvin, and William Blackstone

– Not mandating that students are taught that Hispanics fought in the Battle of the Alamo against Santa Anna

– Not including that the founding fathers protected religious freedom in America by barring the government from promoting or disfavoring any particular religion above all others

– Removing any reference to the United States as “democratic” and mandating that it be referred to as a “constitutional republic”

More than 100 amendments to the 120-page course curriculum for history, sociology and economics.

I know what many of you are thinking; So What? That’s Texas, they are ass backwards country folks that will be stuck in the good old boys days. Except this is bigger than the Texas State Board of Education, Texas is the 2nd largest buyer of textbooks in the United States. California being the largest, but with Cali in such a bad economic state they will not be the #1 buyer this year and possible for the next several years. Again you all are probably still saying, SO WHAT?

Here is why we ALL need to be concerned; I never realized that the language in textbooks (used by most schools) that we used to study in school are influenced by the largest purchaser. I always thought there was a standard that every state followed, should have known better. Like everything else in this world the almight dollar drives production. The textbook industry cannot afford to ignore a market like Texas. When California held the title of #1 buyer looks like intellect was more of a focus instead of agenda. For example I read some where that there was one proposal to replace any mention of hip-hop with country music. Why can’t we have both genre of music mentioned? Bye Jay-Z and HELLO Kenny Chesney!!

Well now Republicans have seized the moment. They figured if we can’t change colleges from being so Liberal lets influence the minds of the young starting in middle school. Why not have more minds like Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney etc… What kills me is that these were the same Republicans that were opposed to President Obama addressing kids on the first day of school fearing that he was going to use that address to influence kids. How is this any different? It’s not, except their influence will last more than a 5-10 minute video address!!

Trust that these changes have the full support of the Republican Party; it was the Republicans led by Newt Gingrich in the 90s that led the “Republican Revolution”. When Former President Clinton was elected and Democrats won control of the Congress; Republicans decided to focus on elections at every level. They wanted a Republican in every official office possible and that included Board of Education positions, and shaping the future of our kids was exactly what they wanted. The new Young Republicans that will grow up to become Mayors, Governors, Senators and even Presidents.

I feel as if we are at a cross-road in life; this country is so polarized right now. You’re either Rich or Poor; the middle-class is a dying breed.

You look at the points the Texas SBOE want to add/remove from the textbooks and it’s a dangerous curriculum they are trying to push. Every so often Texas talks about succeeding from the Union aka the United States; it was just last year that Gov Rick Perry (Texas) talked about succeeding from the Union. So of course they would want to put MORE focus on the inauguration speech of Jefferson Davis (President of the Confederate States).

As if there isn’t enough partisanship in politics today, let’s just preach more separation instead of focusing on coming together as One Nation.

These kats even want to take away using the term Democratic when referring to the United States, WTF! According to Texas the United States should be referred to as a “Constitutional Republic”. I wonder why????

Could it be that the Texas SBOE (Republicans) doesn’t believe that this nation is built on the principle of political or social equality for all??? It has to be that, I mean Republicans don’t believe most Americans should be covered by Healthcare.

Republicans hiding behind the Texas SBOE continue to show that they do not believe in social equality. While we’re at it why don’t we just replace old Stars and Stripes with the Confederate Flag!
