Tennessee Mom Upset with Cam Newton Celebration

The talk of sports world outside of the New England Patriots remaining undefeated, was Cam Newton dabbing on the Tennessee Titans

Cam’s celebration upset not only the Titans but also a mom who was in attendance with her 9-year old daughter, and she expressed her thoughts in an ‘Open Letter’ to Cam and sent it over to the Charlotte Observer

Dear Mr. Newton,

Congratulations on your win in Nashville today. Our team played well, but yours played better. Kudos to the Panthers organization.

That game happened to be my nine year old daughter’s first live NFL experience. … Because of where we sat, we had a close up view of your conduct in the fourth quarter. The chest puffs. The pelvic thrusts. The arrogant struts and the “in your face” taunting of both the Titans’ players and fans. We saw it all.

I refuse to believe you don’t realize you are a role model. You are paid millions of dollars every week to play hard and be a leader. In the off season you’re expected to make appearances, support charities, and inspire young kids to pursue your sport and all sports. With everything the NFL has gone through in recent years, I’m confident they have advised that you are, by virtue of your position and career choice, a role model.

My daughter sensed the change immediately – and started asking questions. Won’t he get in trouble for doing that? Is he trying to make people mad? Do you think he knows he looks like a spoiled brat?

I didn’t have great answers for her, and honestly, in an effort to minimize your negative impact and what was otherwise a really fun day, I redirected her attention to the cheerleaders and mascot.

I could tell she was still thinking about it as we boarded a shuttle back to our car. “I guess he doesn’t have kids or a Mom at home watching the game,” she added.

I don’t know about your family life Mr. Newton, but I think I’m safe in saying thousands of kids watch you every week. You have amazing talent and an incredible platform to be a role model for them. Unfortunately, what you modeled for them today was egotism, arrogance and poor sportsmanship.

Is that what your coaches and mentors modeled for you, Mr. Newton?

1st off what’s the deal with the Panther’s home town paper even giving this lady the spotlight to get at Cam like that? SMH, but I will get back to that in a moment.

Then what’s the deal with this mother writing about not knowing what to say to her daughter about Cam’s celebration???

If you are having a hard time talking to your daughter about a football game and a player celebrating his accomplishments, what are you going to do when it’s time to talk about the ‘The Birds and the Bees’?

But let’s not get it twisted, this is about a woman and a child who are Titans’ fans and are upset their team lost. She doesn’t really care about sportsmanship. I have watched Titans’s game (I know sad) and there are plenty of defensive players gyrating after sacks. I may have missed something but I doubt there are Open Letters for those guys, hmmmmm….

Now getting back to the Charlotte Observer, what’s the deal? You have watched Cam play for 5 seasons, and watched this dude play hurt for your team and currently led your team to a 9-0 record. Defend your QB!!!

Takeover Thursdays – Keith Bulluck vs. Tennessee Titans

Keith Bulluck - NY Giants

With this Sundays matchup between the NY Giants and Tennessee Titans has opened up a wound that had barely healed. Keith Bulluck will be facing his former team (Titans) for the first time since signing with the NY Giants. Bulluck spent the first 10 years of his career with the Titans; his departure from Tennessee was not received well by fans as reports surfaced that Bulluck was not even offered a contract by the Titans. Those reports were backed by Keith in his first statements to the media after signing with the Giants. Head coach of the Titans Jeff Fisher gave a different version of the story when he stated that Bulluck had desires of playing for his hometown team and that the Titans had interest. Up until this week that was were the story ended… When Bulluck met with the Nashville media earlier this week he reiterated he side of the story.

“You know what, honestly that’s (expletive),” Bulluck said of the team’s claims. “I was working there for 10 years. I have a house there still. Those people know my numbers. So if they were really trying to get in touch with me, trying to sign me and do all that stuff, I’m sure my phone would have rang, my agent’s phone.”

“I was laid up in the training room and I actually asked (Titans General Manager) Mike Reinfeldt what was up,” Bulluck said. “The answer he gave me was somewhat of a joke.”

“I asked my agent several times if the Titans gave him a shout,” he said, “and that didn’t happen.” – via Tennessean

I predict Bulluck will have a strong game as he will not only be up to play against his old team, but he will also be looking to help the Giants bounce back from the disappointing lost to the Colts.

Hines Ward says, Tennessee Titans ‘not same’ without Bulluck

Photobucket Pictures, Images and Photos

They say the highest form of respect is the respect you receive from your peers. With the Pittsburgh Steelers preparing to face the Tennessee Titans this Sunday Hines Ward talked to the Tennessee media about Keith Bulluck…

“He would put guys in certain spots. He sees things and he just has a great knack for football. I remember going up against him and he’s calling out routes and stuff like that. You can’t replace that. They have some great talent, but losing Keith Bulluck, they’re definitely not the same defense that they were when he was there.” -via The Tennessean</strong

Bulluck now with the NY Giants will face a familiar foe on Sunday as the Giants will go up against Peyton Manning and the Colts. Hopefully Bulluck's experience will help in positioning the defense against the 4 time league MVP in Peyton Manning.

Keith Bulluck aka Mr Monday Night signs with the NY Giants

Keith Bulluck (linebacker) formerly of the Tennessee Titans will be joining the NY Giants this season; the signing of Bulluck adds the veteran leadership that was lacking in the Giants linebacker group. In Bulluck the Giants are getting an every down linebacker that can stop the run and defend the pass; just ask Dustin Keller as Bulluck locked him down last year when the Titans came to NY to play the NY Jets.

Since the retirement of Antonio Pierce the Giants lacked a leader with experience on defense; Keith Bulluck instantly fills that need with 10 years of experience. Bulluck is one of the most underrated linebackers in the league; he has quietly put together a strong resume that has not been seen in NYC since the days of Lawrence Taylor, Carl Banks and Harry Carson. Speaking of Harry Carson there is no better player than Keith Bulluck that is worthy of wearing the #53 for the NY Giants.

As for his knee; Bulluck has fully recovered from the ACL tear he suffered late last year; he is fully confident that the knee is where it needs to be. Throughout his career Bulluck has been a mainstay in the starting lineup and there is no reason to believe that he will not return to that level of play that made him a Pro-Bowl linebacker.

Last but least it is unfortunate that Bulluck was not able to finish his career with the Titans; the fairy tale ending would have been Keith Bulluck finishing his career in Nashville. This is business and the Titans chose to go in a different direction; personally speaking much respect to the city of Nashville and all of the Titans fans!!

Overall good move by the G-men; the defense will be looking to bounce back from last years disappointing season. The signing of Antrel Rolle and now Bulluck is a step in the right direction. The pressure is on this year for the Giants as the NY Jets made a lot of moves in an attempt to become the top dawg in NY; the pressure is on and I can’t wait for the season to start.
